    I think it's got 1TB rather than 512GB

This or MacBook Pro M1 13 inch?
    Chz's avatar
Unless you have a real thing for this laptop's unique feature, the M1 is massively, massively better in just about every way. The Zenbook Duo is expensive for a (IMO) gimmick that most people don't need. If it weren't for that, you could get a 12th gen (20-30% faster) processor for a similar price.

I have a ZenBook Duo and it's fantastic. I was worried the second screen may be a bit of a gimmick, but it's genuinely useful. This is a bargain!

Thats retina at the normal placement of a laptop screen - don't be fooled - 4K is great if you have over 65" screen though :-)

Cold. Right handed laptop. Discriminating against us lefties.

Great price. Great machine. Don’t take any notice of snooty comments re processor or whatever. It’s really good for people who need a small laptop but parallel process.

11G series is probably the worst CPU ever made. 4 core massive heat which you need to cool down somehow.

Need a well spec'd laptop for my kid going to uni ... would be easy to just opt for a standard mid-range laptop but as he needs to have 16gb and a dedicated graphics card to run solidworks I'm stumped. Appreciate any recommendations. Fully expect to be paying a bit more as a result. (edited)
    Chz's avatar
Solidworks' own site basically says that any Nvidia GPU will do. (I know they say Maxwell+, but Maxwell is 10 years old) You're going to find the gaming PCs are a better deal than the dedicated CAD ones and do much the same thing. Dell starts at £800 for that sort of thing, but you can get cheaper. Eg: the below Lenovo would do the job.
