child 1st British passport

Can a child make a 1st passport if the parents is expired?

child has father as British Passport holder but is expired,mother is foreign national.

wanted to know if father has to renew first before applying for child's passport or not needed?

    No, he doesn't have to renew it. Just make sure you provide the correct passport number on the form and the child's Full Birth Certificate, which shows parents' details.

    Only one point to consider here - if a child is a British citizen, then there shouldn't be an issue in applying for first passport. It shouldn't matter if parents passports are expired or not. (edited)

    Agreed. They will still be on the system regardless if its expired.

    If it was me and no urgent trip planned, I'd get the dad to renew his passport. Won't take long.

    Then start the child's application. It's a much cleaner approach in my opinion

    Unless there is any urgency, would the most sensible approach for the father to renew their passport first
