musicMagpie - trade in value changed during shipment?

Feels like I'm almost being gaslit by musicMagpie here but I accepted an offer of 470GBP for a Macbook Air M1 in Excellent condition.

Today, the description on the product page and offer have all changed so I now no longer qualify for 'Excellent' condition.

Has anyone had a similar experience at all?

I regrettably didn't get a screenshot before sending of the product page.

July 2023 "excellent" descriptors archive for OPs (assumed) £470 offer:
    archive.is/OmWLU
having same "excellent" descriptors more-recently at 18 Aug 2023 for similar item,
    archive.is/ejHlk

    From circa 29 Aug 2023:
    • Can have few faint signs of wear on screen and/or body
    changed to
    • Flawless appearance with no visible scratches on screen and/or body

You sir are amazing, I'll be sure to use this in my follow up on my complaint - I KNEW they'd changed it which is exactly why I selected 'Excellent'.

Do you reckon with this I'll have some ground to stand with complaints?

Do you mean they renamed the top tier 'Good' to 'Excellent'? It looks like the old descriptions are still up here:

Tip: You can save pages into the 'Wayback Machine' to keep a record of them forever, like the page above will now be available here in its current wording even if they change it tomorrow..:

I had the same email when I sent in a PS5 last month, they still gave me what they quoted when sending.

    Exactly my point here.

The fact they change these without alerting customers who are already in progress with their trade-in is frankly awful.

Not sure what you mean? When you confirm your order to them, that locks in the price which will be confirmed on your pack and send guide. If, once they receive it, determine that it doesn't meet that grade, then you'll be sent a revised offer, which you can choose to either accept or have the macbook sent back to you for free.

I don't think I worded it well but has managed to find what I was referring to - as you can see, I sent the device off conforming with the left-hand description to which it suddenly now no longer conforms because of the updated condition descriptions - I knew it was too good to believe.

Surely when you accept an offer then that's the price??

Terms that apply will be those at point of offer:

When we quality assess your Tech product(s)... we will use the Condition Specifications... which were presented to you on our webservice(s), website(s) and/or mobile application(s) when you described the condition of the item...

Assuming your description matches the pre-29Aug2023 description requirements there should be no issues related to condition description.
(Any options for MM not to progress and return your item at no charge to you will still apply.)
