Can this run solitaire on medium to high graphics?

I would have thought it would be the Lenovo as CPU is more efficient and 4060 uses less than half the power of 3070ti.

Is it worth waiting till black friday if I'm in the market for a gaming laptop?
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
No it's never worth waiting for black Friday for anything lol. Models like this won't even be in stock anymore and if you need a laptop, buy it, don't wait your entire life to save £100

Imagine a 17 inch laptop with no numpad. Look at all that wasted space. Plus no sd card reader.
    William82's avatar
Well spotted, yeh that’s pretty damn ridiculous at this size and price point.
  5. William82's avatar
Could not in good conscience recommend an Alienware laptop to anyone (unless you’ve got a Time Machine and set it for early 2000’s). Overpriced Dell under the hood. Not voting hot or cold, probably spec vs price it’s maybe a pretty good deal. But no thanks.
    ryan.cope's avatar
This is partly true, however having owned every single 17" and 18" since the Clevo alienware days, the area 51M r2 was one hell of a step in the right direction. Shame it went back to BGA and slimmer chassis etc

I’ve an r3 2070 super that cost me £1800, can’t believe how cheap these are these days!!
    Frankdamac's avatar
When did you buy it? What was the spec you got

Can get another £100 cash back if the Dell offer appears on your Amex platinum cashback account

This needs to be added in details of deal

I bought a 15.6 inch for my son (Ryzen 9, 32Gb, 3070i) and it is certainly a hefty weight. I dread to think what a 17 inch would be (£1400, by the way...).
    SixZeppelin's avatar
Also no numpad in a 17" is weird to me. I can understand it in a 14".
  10. JackAllard's avatar
The Lenovo will be slower and less premium, having said that I don’t like the way alienwares look…

Always Sheldon from Big Bang comes in my mind when I see 👽 laptops

Damn. Tempting but only 350nits (legion 7 pro is 500) and it reminds me of those chunky gaming laptops 10 - 15 years ago that I've owned. Unwieldy.

I know it's a desktop replacement but it's almost worth just getting a desktop instead.

Check youtube before buying if I were you. (edited)
    doppo666's avatar
Exactly I think gaming on a desktop would be much better with a nice curved 32inch screen to get that immersion and buy something more portable less weight for carry around

    Good deal!

If i can spend £12-15/day on food n drinks n bus fares.. £450 month after month ..and not question it

I reckon this deal I should not split hairs over..

It's a deal, a fair to very good one..

And if wanting to save 100quid...instead of griping and comparing with other laps, I will just cut back on other things that I happily am brainwashed to pay over the odds for!

    Heat 🔥

Got mine on Saturday - good laptop but haven't had much time to use it yet.
    AdelRawas's avatar
Then how do you know that it is a good laptop if you haven't had much time to use it?
  19. Esfiha28's avatar
I want an even faster CPU (13700? 7800?) with a lesser GPU (at least 3060 level though) for my work case. Any options? Can you choose specs here?
    Smoggy1970's avatar
Can you even get a 13700 laptop?

Would a 3070ti be better than a 4070 in laptops? Also considering future-proofing the laptop. I have used my current laptop with a 1050 with about 5 years but however I dont really play any games now, it still works great
    Nigel_Tufnel's avatar
4070 mobile is faster and newer.

ordered this with 32gig and 1tb hd for my son to replace his 5yr old gaming laptop
    for £1200
    fama's avatar
Just a quick one, I ordered the exact same configuration but mine cost £1256, did you just round down to £1200 or actually more off? If so, how?!
  29. Notchello's avatar
This or lenovo legion 7 slim 4060 with 32gb ram and 1tb storage (£1300)?

Good deal. On eBay the m17 3070tis and Co', are being marked at even higher prices than Dell, for refurbished ones.
  34. Shaz001's avatar
Very tempting with the £100 Amex credit
  35. JohnNg's avatar
Is the 4k screen recommended over the 1440p one? Higher peak brightness etc.
    You lose GSync though
    Freakgeek's avatar
Well it depends on what your mainly going to use it for. High end media user or graphic/surface design student/professional and casual gamer it's a good choice but if gaming is important then it's 2k all the way!
  36. JohnNg's avatar
Went with the 4k screen because of higher brightness and colour accuracy.
I know running games at 1440p may not look as good as a native 1440p screen but figure those other 2 things will help there (or use resolution scaling within the game) (edited)
    XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
    Dlss.

Changed over to the 1440p screen option (edited)

  39. Frankdamac's avatar
I bought mines 30 aug for 19 sept delivery. Is that normal?
    Jesusaur's avatar
Yeah I asked them directly, there's not other way to get then sooner due to demand
  40. Stufat's avatar
Thank you op and all other posters for the information, I know bugger all about computers but my son asked for a gaming laptop for his 18th birthday so I’ve gone ahead and ordered him one
    AdelRawas's avatar
Well he is going to be the coolest 18 years old for owning an Alienware.
This is the mercedes of gaming laptops
