The site was only registered in April this year, and they could not be bothered to buy more than a year, so make your decision

I found them because they were offering a book I wanted for 80p- with free postage worldwide!

Come on, that can't be right. Other sites are selling it at around the £2.20 mark delivered in the UK. This has to be scam site in one form or another.

EDIT: I've been doing some sleuthing.

In the FAQ they say: "We’re based in the UK. Our HQ is in Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, London, EC4Y 0DZ, United Kingdom., which is the nerve centre of our business." Yet on the Contact Us page, their address is in the Netherlands!

In the testimonials, there is an identical review from 2 different people. Abysmal attention to detail. And as a previous poster here said, their Trustpilot link is fake.

...the plot thickens. On the Gift Cards page, they refer to "Bomke Books". Yet the images of the gift cards refer to "Balfe Books". It seems that there was a "bomkebooks.com", but it no longer loads. Sounds like a series of aliases, of which Beiss Books is the latest.

I feel foul to their scam. I foolishly tried to order a book then a few weeks after my card was used for a £3250 purchase over the phone in Scotland (hundreds of miles from my home address). Annoyingly my bank allowed the purchase to go through so I had to go through the fraud team to get it back. Luckily the company the money was spent at stopped the delivery of goods going through after I phoned them as soon as I saw the money go from my account.

I got scammed by a site that looked just like this with a different name. It wouldn't let me order, but someone helped themselves to my card details and spent a few days buying food and trying to set up an apple pay account with my card. Then, they called me acting like they were the bank and told me I had been scammed. Cheeky tea leaves. Lesson learned, if the price is under value of everyone else and it is a site I have never heard of, I check first.

Hey! How soon after did they start using your account. Its been nearly a week and nothing has happened so in not sure if I'm in the clear or not! I hope you managed to get your money back and everything sorted!

I was going to ask the same thing. However, just tried buying a book, price was wrong (higher) when it went through to payment and payment would not got through. Personally I think I will give them a miss!

Jill it's a phishing site. So when you go to give payment, instead of a purchase they take your card details and address.

It's probably best you order a new bank card, and watch your account very closely. If your bank calls you atall about "fraudulent activity" insist that you'll call your bank directly.

Had a very convincing call from a well spoken English guy today, who was part of this scam as I did what you did. They tried to take £112 from my account, but it requires approval on my phone. So they call pretending to be my bank, claiming to be aware of the £112 attempt, to get more details from me.

I tried to order from them yesterday and it wouldn't let me. Their trust pilot review bit at the bottom is fake, as they don't actually have any trustpilot reviews. I'm now a little scared they've stolen my details, but happy the payment was unsuccessful.

I would be concerned too- I think this is a scam site, so I'd get in touch with my bank if I were you.

Certainly doesn't sound encouraging. On the surface the site looks good - and if they have the books that's impressive; but no good if prices change and they aren't planning to be around for long

A real shame as we do need something to replace the book depository

Seems their registered office in The Netherlands.

Avoid this site! I was scammed by them. My payment wouldn’t go through (about 4 weeks ago) and today I was called by someone pretending to be my bank mentioning this transaction. They then started to use my card (which I had input for the book) for purchases.

I called my bank and they confirmed that I had been a victim of fraud.

I was also a victim of them, they managed to get a purchase of over £3200 out of my account before I noticed.

Just to reinforce, what Kate said above. Had the exact same experience.

Tried to buy a used book about 4 weeks ago, so no thought about it being cheap. Didn't work, so assumed faulty site and moved on.

Had a very convincing call from a well spoken English guy today. Saying he was from the fraud department of my bank, and they'd noticed someone had tried to make a payment of £112 from Liverpool, when they know I'm based elsewhere. He suggested I check my phone, which confirmed an attempted payment which I hadn't confirmed. He then attempted to explain he would contact my other banks on my behalf, to notify them etc.

Definitely be safe when buying online! First experience I've had like this. I clocked on midway through the call, and called him out, he started swearing his head off etc
Sad way for someone to spend their life.

They're still trading as "balfe books". I was nearly a victim, but the price of the book was suspiciously low. I spent a while on the website, realised that their trustpilot was fake etc etc. I've written a review on the actual trustpilot and would encourage you all to do so too, to save others from this scam!

I was also scammed , I didn’t get a call from them but they successfully used my card details to make a purchase for new boiler in Scotland. They did give a delivery address tho, I’m not thinking that the police that weren’t interested when I called them really need to look into this.

I was scammed by them after trying to buy a book just before Christmas. The payment failed soon went onto Amazon and bought it there (it was only £8 so only £3 more). I wasn’t suspicious about the price being particularly low because it wasn’t much cheaper and a secondhand book. I thought nothing else from it until in January I was checking my bank account online and saw fraudulent purchases ,a large purchase had been made in a plumbing shop. After contacting the bank I also contacted the company the money was spent at and they had a delivery address for the goods in Scotland plus a man’s name for the purchase. I’m now convinced this was from the failed purchase of the book. 52173415-iSuh2.jpgI suggest clicking on Trust Pilot Reviews to see how many others have been scammed by them.
