What’s better warranty amazon or Argos?

The warranty in the uk is a voluntary agreement and doesn’t really mean much. If you buy a new product in the UK, you have 6 years protection against goods which have a manufacturing fault. You need to be looking at the level of customer support you will receive instead.

Argos have replaced a microwave and air fryer for free after 5 years when they broke. Apple replaced a watch after almost 6 years when the battery swelled, and Amazon have replaced a couple of Echo Shows with faulty screens after 4 years.

As an example, Apple have their warranty and the UK Consumer Law, mentioned on their website… apple.com/uk/…uk/

Both Argos and Amazon were difficult with replacing the above as they were “out of warranty”, but as soon as I mentioned our consumer protections, they quickly arranged for next day replacements. Don’t let them palm you off to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. It is the sellers responsibility

Edit: This is 5 years in Scotland (edited)

Yes no Time Machine, but I did pay £530 for mine from Amazon in 2021.

even in 2023 this is one of the best laptops you can get imo. the screen is beautiful and apple’s LCDs often don’t suffer problems that other LCDs do e.g. poor viewing angles. 8gb of RAM served me perfectly well while using ms access in parallels for coursework. runs ryujinx (SSHD - 4K60) and dolphin (MKWii - 1440p60) pretty well too if you’re into that. would grab it up at this price!

Did you pay like over £100 for parallels or is there a cheaper option? I don't know much about apple software but am considering an m line cpu

Do we think these will be further reduced tomorrow?

I am thinking the same. I have delivery set up for Sunday's. Tempted to order and have it delivered on Sunday but if it goes cheaper, cancel it and order it again..

Excuse the ignorant question. Daughter went to uni a couple of weeks ago and her laptop is already playing up (getting red hot and constantly updating) and she needs a replacement. She'd use it for research, watching Netflix etc. She's never used a Macbook but everyone I work with raves about them. Would this be overkill for her needs? (edited)

No. This is the base model MacBook Air. These are the ones to buy unless she will be doing video editing or using more demanding apps.

Even with video editing in mind, this is still one of the best machines to buy.

If a bigger screen is needed buy the Air 15” or MacBook Pro 15/16”.

Was waiting for Amazon to price match. 5 interest free payments option works for me.
  11. Geldof84's avatar
Don’t think the 5 month interest free option is available as an option to pay.

Are we likely to see this go lower before the end of the year? Perhaps Black Friday.
Could it possibly go sub £700.
