Best AV Set Up

Hi HUKD!

Now I’m going in with the caveat that I’m completely out of tune with what’s on the market and some of the use cases, but can somebody recommend a really good set up for a main living room including TV, Soundbar/Surrounds, Amp (if required and why?). I’d love for it to be sleek and wireless to avoid clutter.

Similarly, something similar for a dedicated gaming room would be great? I imagine it won’t be the same spec as the main living room, but something just as good for PS5.

Thanks so much in advance!

Best AV setup....to start with you need to be forgetting about Soundbars.....

yeah some are ok now (Sonos better than most) but they'll never match AVR/Wired.

If you want to stay wireless then you'll be compromising on audio.

I think it depends if you want best sound or convenience. If you want convenience go with a wireless sound bar if you want best sound get an amp and speakers.

Might be best to pop into your local RicherSounds if you have one and have a word with them, they'll be more than capable of helping you.
I've got an AVR, got the Denon S760 with some Onkyo speakers. Been after some Atmos Speakers for ages but never got round to getting them.
As somebody mentioned above surround sounds can cost you a few quid, think mine was probably a grand all in

Is there a financial budget? "Best" could bring costs into the tens of thousands

77 inch TV (ideally). Heard the LG c2 is probably the best around.

    Sonos Arc

About that range? Hopefully that’s some sort of useful ball park!

In that case does anyone have a good recommended wired and wireless set up to inform a decision? If wired, then any cable management system to hide wires?

Thank you all for your advice so far - it is greatly appreciated!

A wired setup is as expensive as you want to make it TBH. With the £1,700 budget of a Sonos Arc and Sub you could have a pretty high end wired system.

    You'd need
    - 4k surround amp (pipe all your AV inputs through the system)
    - 5 or more speakers
    - Subwoofer

As for cable management? I ripped up my lounge floorboards when I moved in and was working on the house and ran the cables under the floor!

Having cables really doesn't need to be that much trouble. You can run them under floorboards or in walls, or like i do in cable trunking around the skirting board.
