A heat pump dryer is more energy efficient then a heated rack

There is only 2 benefits of the latter

1. Space if you have only enough space to compact the rack and have down the side of a cupboard then it might be your only option

2. Longer lasting clothes, supposedly it's better for longevity.. most talk about this is about a proper tumble dryer and not heat pump, I'm sure air drying make slightly better still but a heat pump isn't that hot so doesn't have as much disbenefit, then you think

I understand now. When comparing a heat pump tumble dryer to a heated drying rack for drying clothes in winter:

1. Energy Efficiency: Heat pump tumble dryers are generally more energy-efficient than heated drying racks. Tumble dryers use heat exchange processes to recycle and reuse heat, which is more efficient than constantly heating the air, as in a heated drying rack.

2. Convenience: Heat pump tumble dryers offer greater convenience. You can simply load your clothes and set the desired program, while a heated drying rack requires you to manually hang the clothes and wait for them to dry, which can be time-consuming and less efficient.

3. Speed: Tumble dryers are faster at drying clothes than heated drying racks, which can be important in the winter when you need your clothes to dry quickly.

4. Space: Heat pump tumble dryers can be a space-saving option, especially if you have limited room for hanging a heated drying rack. (When in use)

5. Environmental Impact: Heat pump tumble dryers are more energy-efficient, which results in lower energy consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions compared to heated drying racks.

In most cases, a heat pump tumble dryer is a more efficient and convenient option for drying clothes in winter compared to a heated drying rack. However, the choice may depend on factors like available space, budget, and personal preferences.

At around £500 for a heat pump dryer vs £50 for a rack, how long must an average family of 4 use it before the costs are even?

£300 heat pump dryer Vs £50 for a rack

With mentioned the convenience of dryer makes it worthwhile let alone the health complications if using scenario 2

Also some people are paying £100-150 on fancy racks

Nope not really take your load of washing and put them on a rack, close the door and come back once dry your find the electric plug will read similar to running in the heat pump dryer and also some of that moist air will invetiable be seeped into the walls still

A convided space is more efficient

A dehumidifier again is a good tool if the material is precious and or space is confided for a machine
    / can afford oppex cost

For convenience you can't beat a heat tumble dryer (edited)
