Kenya Safari

Has anyone done a safari and can recommend somewhere to book it through? I'd like to go for a few weeks and possibly a side trip to Victoria falls, if anyone has any other recommendations to share please do

Agreed one was in the news yesterday :

I wouldn't go if you are a 'westerner' as they call it, of course that means if you are white

We went on a 3 day safari in the Masai Mara. My wife who is from Kenya wasn’t that keen as “she had been on loads” but I booked a private vehicle, so just the 2 of us and we had a fantastic time. Wife loved it so much that we are planning on doing the Serengeti next.

Saw loads, only thing we didn’t see were Cheetahs as there were none in the area when we went and Rhinos, self explanatory as they are as rare as Rhino poo.

A few of the many pics I took.

I have done a safari in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana

I preferred Botswana as I saw a lot of animals without there being a "crowd" of safari vehicles whenever a particular animal was spotted
Before I went into Botswana I stayed for a night at the Royal Livingstone Hotel and saw the Victoria Falls

I was in Kenya in 2013 when this happened:

"On 21-24 September 2013 over 60 people including six British nationals were killed in an attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi."

I was flying home from Nairobi during that time and it was pretty scary

Maybe go and see a travel agent to put together a package

Same thing is going to happen. Not just in Africa & the Middle East but the Balkans were starting to boil over even before the last 2 weeks.

My sister did one in Kenya and I remember her saying to book the safari once you are there as it is significantly cheaper. If you don't want to go to Kenya due to terrorism then South Africa could be a 2nd choice (Kruger national park) (edited)

Yes that's usually the case, good to know I could find something there not just paying extra middle men here. Did South Africa a few years ago it was great

We did a 3 day safari in Masai Mara. Little Governors Camp. Sandwiched between a 2 week stay at the Baobab Hotel in Mombasa.
