Work Christmas Presents

Hi everyone

I manage about 40 people at work. Gone up from about 13 last year. I like to always buy them something at Christmas but I need to be much smarter this year. Last year I didn't the 6 bottles of wine for 20 thing. Spent 40 and everyone got a prosecco. Anyone seen anything or got any good ideas where I won't have to put myself out too much. I have 2 kids and my own problems but I think this is always nice to do for people at Christmas. Figured the earlier the better.

No suggestions, but what a decent boss you are

With an increased team, there's a chance that some employees might not drink alcohol so that's worth bearing in mind (edited)

Asda has a few chocolate boxes on offer with cashback via the rewards app.
As other people have mentioned Terry's orange but also Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury pouches etc are also on offer.

As the moment I would be setting my budget and finding out if anyone has diety restrictions, e.g. vegan, halal, kosher, diabetic etc in case you need to buy different items for them.

Hopefully, something posted on here will jump out to you, you still have 2 months to make a decision, maybe come black friday there will be offers.

The fancy M&S biscuit boxes always look nice

This is a decent idea. Knowing my luck I'll make someone a millionaire and I'd cry

Random toys/gadgets from Home Bargains, wrap them up - no names, dress up as Santa & have them all sit on your lap before you give them one. Much merriment will ensue.

What is the maxium per person you want to spend? Does seem very good of you though.

I think I'd like to keep it 3-5 per person in actual cost but obvs the value needs to appear to be more lol. Like last year I bought prosecco for £3.60 per person but really they looked like £8 a bottle per person

i'd speak to your manager and explain the situation and see if they will help or chip in or something. if you have nearly 3 times the staff, i don't imagine your pay has increased anywhere near that, if even at all, bar the usual inflationary increase. see if they can give you a bonus or let you get stuff on expenses etc

i would get a bunch of raffaello as they are cheap enough and everyone likes them. it is not the sort of chocolates people eat daily so always welcome as a present

Last year tins of quality street, heroes, celebrations etc were 3 for £10 at Farmfoods.
I bought a load, plus some Toblerones and fancy packs of biscuits for the staff at my mother's care home.
Worked out at £3.50 to £4 each.
Not particularly prestigious though, especially as I did the same Prosecco thing as you the year before.

This is what I was going to suggest, always popular at Xmas time and very few people don't like chocolate.

75% will be how you present it, there are wine and other drinks offers on atm whether amazon or supermarkets.
Nice bit of 'snow' covered wrapping and a posh looking bow with a card.

Big tins of chocolates will soon be on offer again.

What about one of the little bottles of wine from Home Bargains, start from £1 a bottle and a selection box?

Selection boxes usually go down to half price before Christmas for a few days in all the major supermarkets so you could do this for about £3 per person for the little bottle of wine and selection box.

As someone else said Terry's chocolate oranges are on at £1.50 in Asda with 75p back in your cash pot making them half price. Plus if you buy in batches of 4 totalling £6, you get a free spin in their Halloween wheel in the app and can win anything from 50p to £100. I've had a couple of £1 wins, so deduct this from the £6 & the cash back 4 chocolate oranges for as little as £2.50.

Ok you need the app to get the cash back, but it's no great hastle. I've bought 4, got the cash back, gone next day, generated a voucher from my app from cash back received on original purchase and used it to pay towards my next batch.

If you want something a bit bigger, toberlones are £4.50 with £1.50 cash back at Asda too via their app so work out at £3 each after the cash back are £1.50 a box with 50p back so there are options.

Pick up some little gift bags from Home Bargains (smallest ones used to be about 39p (edited)

We used to get a weeks wages as a Christmas bonus at my old work place, i didn't realise how great this was until i joined a multi billion company and got a £25 voucher, dont receive anything directly off our manager though so its really nice of you, maybe buy 40 tubs of chocolate, everyone loves chocolate
