Order invoice received for a different customer

Hi Folks. Basically I ordered something online and when I opened the package I noticed I received the order invoice of a different customer which included their personal details including their name, address, last 4 digits of the payment card used, their email and mobile number. Thats means potentially my order invoice with my details has gone to this person. Is there anything I can do about it. I dont know why the invoice includes so many unnecessary personal details.

If you wish to be particularly aggressive, you have option of informing ICO.
ICO may bother check if the (UK) retailer has mandatory Data Protection registration.

If no DP registration, ICO should initiate movement towards £4000 fine plus whatever reprimand for proven data mismanagement,
but considering the likes of well-known Eufy camera / batteryproduct UK shifter Anker persistently chooses not to bother with DP reg and has not yet been slapped by ICO it is unlikely anything will come of it.

Check if your retailer has DP reg here: ico.org.uk/ESD…rch
and maybe post back with indication of reg or not.

    Contact ICO via ico.org.uk/mak…nt/

View list of ICO actions at ico.org.uk/act…nt/

What do you mean by “Is there anything I can do about it?”. You can just let the retailer know and they will likely just say sorry and move on with their day. It was an error that has already happened and unfortunately can’t be reversed. If it was Amazon (however they don’t send invoices) you may be able to complain and get £5 promo credit if you kicked up enough fuss. Most companies will just apologise, but I’m not sure what else you would expect to be honest.

I had a courtesy car recently which had all the personal details of the previous occupant of the vehicle. I just binned it. These things happen (edited)

Mistakes happen, there are humans on the other end as well. Let them know, get it acknowledged and move on.

Have you raised this issue with the retailer?

Just contact the retailer, destroy the customers information (as i assume you'd want them to do the same thing with yours) and wait for their reponse.

it's not that big of a deal. that's a normal amount of information on an invoice.

During my pregnancy the hospital gave me the complete blood test results for another woman.

The next time I went in I gave them to the receptionist who just silently took them and said nothing.

    End of story.
