Remote Control - Inexpensive Tracker

I take you mean TV remotes?
I used 50lb breaking strain line glued to the controllers, I then resorted to buying duplicates and still they went missing. I then fitted an ESP01, but battery life ruined that option. My phone can control all the major functions, Alexa can do some basic stuff, however I found I don't watch as much TV now so I gave up trying to do anything more clever than having a separate dedicated controller just for me. It only gets used when the other remotes go missing and no one else is allowed to use it - I just tell them tough, they need to find their remote!

Also worth mentioning that trackers don't offer the resolution you need to find a TV remote - it's best to invest in a bluetooth remote that can be pinged from either the device or your phone so it beeps and or buzzes. IIRC Sky remotes do that, I seem to recall a similar function on the VM remotes as well. (edited)

Are you really talking about just locating a remote you've mislaid around the house, or do you want to trace ones stolen from a B&B or similar?

I'd just move house.
