Nike sizing between men and woman for Air force 1's

I'm a man but I've ordered a pair of Air force 1 that said women's but thought they would size the same as men's.I went down half a size from My usual Nike 9 as I heard that people often do that with AF1.
I'm now wondering if women's and men's Nikes size completely differently.Does anyone know?My parcel hasn't arrived yet

Usually around a one size difference and womens shoes are narrow

I find this system really daft. A size is a size regardless of gender so I don't know why they are different. If you're not using something with your junk then why is there even a thing to say they are men's/women's? Surely it's all just down to design preference!

I got the shoes and to my surprise they do fit and are only a little snug for me but I think they would have been fine if I had gone true to my normal size, the label says they are a 28cm.I suppose my feet must be fairly narrow then.I'm going to send them back anyway as I think the colourway that I chose is a bit loud for me
