No there will be no Flamedeer Hunt this Christmas - No info from HUKD, they have just ignored it, there might be one in April ??
Didn’t realise Halloween was the last. I’d much prefer to ditch that one and keep the Christmas one going, seems a weird decision. Flamedeer = Christmas

Thank you for the explanation, but, should have stuck to the original - it was something different and appreciated, and you never needed to be so extravagant with the prizes, it was just a fun game. that stemmed from Christmas fun and joy.

Why do a Halloween 'Flamedeer' and NOT do the Christmas outing, which is where it all began. Flamedeer does = Christmas , I am VERY disappointed in HUKD , Flamedeer was a foundation competition at Christmas, WHO decided not to do the annual Christmas excursion of the 'Flamedeers' and WHY what was the reasoning behind this ??? This site was one of the first to bring in such an ingenious competition, and I am sure it kept the site views to epidemic proportions. All I can say do not bother bringing a new year hunt, as my spirits are rock bottom without the annual FLAMEDEER HUNT .
Absolutely agree. Hijacked the reindeer for Halloween but to hell with Christmas. Really stupid decision making by hukd.
I’ve been wondering this too until I just saw this thread. So sad that they decided not to do a Christmas Flamedeer this year especially when reindeer (flamedeer) as associated with Christmas. I’d much prefer a Christmas hunt to instead of Halloween. Big opportunity missed I think.
Glad someone thinks like I do, the 'Flamedeer Hunt' was Christmas, not Halloween or Easter.

It is correct that the game was launched around Christmas time in 2010 (crazy they are 14 years old next year!!) but since 2015 the game isn't just a Christmas game. It can currently be launched in 4 themes; Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas. So while we can do up to 4 a year, that rarely happens.
How we decide on when to launch a game isn't actually that complicated... we simply look at resources available to us and then start the planning.
At Pepper i'm responsible for project managing the game and not just for the UK. The Halloween 2023 game launched in Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Poland and the UK. We also have Mexico and Italy that can get involved and in future maybe some of our newer countries like Sweden (and others to come ).
Each game really does take a massive amount of time to create and to execute a game perfectly you need to work on it for around 12 weeks. Not just my work but every country manager, development team, product team etc.... I would estimate 100+ people at Pepper will be involved with each game.
The idea of the Flamedeer game was always to give something back to the community and to provide a bit of fun...it can be frustrating at times but I think it is also a really important part of our community so if we want it to be here in 10 years time it is important we don't just keep rolling a game out...we want it to always be something fun and it has to not be overused.
My strong hope for the game is new features, new ways to play and elements of surprise.
How many times since 2010 has it not been done at Christmas? The decline of the celebration of Christmas in this country is depressing.

I think they rounded them all up and put them on a barge of the Dorset coast somewhere.
@hotukdeals, that's pants. There's no hunt this year, I was looking forward to it and hopefully win something.

Whilst I a disappointed that there is no Christmas Flamedeer hunt this year, I fully understand the decision given the amount of resources and man hours that have to be put into it. I come to HUKD for the deals and having a game to play is a nice bonus, whenever they choose to run the event. In that case, I hope the team at Pepper and HUKD enjoy a relaxing Christmas without having to worry about releasing the herds this Winter
(PS Jason, if you do have an elusive Golden Flamedeer for the next game lying around, I'll leave my stocking by the fireplace into the New Year just in case... you know... it needs a home a good home )

The days when you had to catch & kill your own food rather than buy soulless prepacked meat that was previously reared in a rammed shed & fed on gruel in Holland.
Dammit. That's Christmas ruined 🙈 It wasn't the prizes (never won a brass farthing) it was the fun of the game & I'm so sad it's not happening this year 😪😪

The whole thing was pretty poorly thought out, some people have work/families/lives especially at this time of year.
They thought it was better to have a 'Christmas Flamedeer' hunt in October !!! I have already said my peace , but we might have one in April - so something to look forward to !!! not ??
To be fair HUKDs probably want a skeleton staff over the XMas holidays.
It is easy for us at home to forget that there are staff behind the scenes & running a promotion would require more staffing hours over a period when most people want to spend time with family, go on holiday or spend hours in a pub.
I think the main point of a Xmas game is why it has a Flame/Reindeer theme in the first place. But also many people are at home over Xmas and can play the game more.
I hope in future the game is less random and will actually feature some amount of "skill" involved.
Also reserving prizes to certain members makes people feel excluded. Great for those who don't work and devote many hours to be on here. Not so great for those who work and actually click links and buy products, directly keeping the site commercially viable! (edited)
