I phone warranty

Hi
I dropped my iPhone 15 yesterday
No actual physical damage but I now have a white and pink vertical line on my screen.
Just wondering if there i is any way Apple would cover this under warranty as the phone is only 4 weeks old.
Apparently they charge £350 for screen replacement!!

I should imagine it has a built in accelerometer so they can tell if you dropped it.

I mean you dropped it. So no one else is gonna pay. Why would they cover it under warranty? Pretty odd post really

I think the question from OP is more along the lines of, do you think it's something that I can get away with making Apple fix

You could claim it has become faulty. They wouldn't know you dropped it if there is no physical damage. I have dropped my Samsung phones a few times but luckily it never affected the phone.

I guess you didn't buy insurance?
They use the accelerometer to call emergency services as the sudden impact could be the result of you being in an accident. So I would expect their system has recorded you dropping it

Just asking when did they start this ? Never knew there was such a thing

Age of the device is irrelevant. That’s what insurance is for.

If the phone is only 4 weeks old you should try adding AppleCare+ first in the settings, it's slightly dishonest but if it allows you to add it (should be £7/8.99 a month or something and you can then cancel or continue with it) then you will definitely be covered for the 'accident' which I'm certain you just said was going to unfortunately and unexpectedly happen 'tomorrow'.

They will know the date you dropped it. They aren't stupid

    Worth a try

    It's worth a try.

I got an iPhone 13 just after launch when they were still really limited stock and dropped it after 3 days. A few days later, one morning it just bricked. Complely unresponsive, wouldn't turn on, couldn't connect via iTunes etc, so I booked a genuis appointment and managed to get it swapped out.

Tell them you had it in your pocket whilst trampolining and since then it's developed the lines you mentioned!

Is trampolining a euphemism or? And I think they would likely class it as accidental damage so got to pay up to fix it.

That's the problem with phones these days - they have made the glass damage proof but it's the sensors underneath that are weak as wet paper.

the real problem is when people join a forum to ask a question without even a please, and then never return.

Realistically, you cannot expect to buy something, drop it, and then expect Apple to foot the bill.
