100% yours - my blood pressure raised as soon as I read 'Hi mate' .....I want facts not sales tactics.

    "Hi mate..." = cringe

    Which do you prefer.

Should I just be lazy and use the pre filled HUKD's one?

Your description is much better. It's quick and to the point. If I'm gonna read a deal's description I don't want to read through multiple paragraphs of text.

On the example you provided, I prefer yours. Yours has the was price on so I know whether it's a deal or not and the other seems more like an advert to me. All the important info is in one place on yours and it's all concise, whereas the suggested one is very wordy..you have to read through all of it to pick out the info that's important.

I'm not to keen on the persuasive tone of the HUKD's one.

I think it's unnecessary and a good deal alone will sell itself.

“Hey mate”… one of my pet hates.

    How do you feel about.

    Hi Folks?

What is a good way to address the community? (edited)

The suggested description is far too patronising, I will click on fewer deals if I have to read stuff like that.

Yours. HUKD is trying to get sophisticated using GenAI but messing it up badly.

I thought it was an attempt at "whatever sells the most"!

I think that your usual description is better, it has all the important info from the beginning and then some extra details, if anyone needs them to make up their minds.

Noticed the new 'hey mate' descriptions a few days ago - is it AI generated?

No idea how it works, I just saw when I was uploading some deals it was an option to use. You click it was there's a pre written description to add. You can edit it I think and add to it.

I probably missed the announcement about it. I did search but didn't see anything about it.

Anything that starts with Hey mate' or (imo) even worse 'hi guys' I won't continue to read, or if on youtube, continue to watch.

    Annoying and patronising.

    Yours is much better.

I just realised this is written in the same style as the AI item description feature that eBay offers these days. The latter picks up the data from all the fields that have been populated by the seller and then makes a description that reads just like the HUKD one, but without the "mate" bit. I tried it a couple of times, ended up deleting it and writing it in my usual way.

    Thanks for feeding back.

I try to just include the information I think it's relevant and helpful.

I'm not too keen the tone of the HUKD's description myself but if it was popular I would switch to it.

I prefer my way of doing it because I believe it's better. I find when HUKD edit any deal I post, it has so many grammatical errors and layout issues that I have to change it to a format that I feel comfortable with. (edited)

It's frustrating when deals get edited poorly.

Your version, the other one is one just a bunch of words mashed together

I thought deals with any mention of finance whether they are interest free or not where no longer allowed?

    Maybe things have changed.

    Yeah I thought so too.

Must have been a recent change as I've only just got out of having all my comments moderated because of mentions credit in comments. I had to promise not say anything to get out moderation.

Seems pretty stupid suggesting that "the best part" of something being £25 is that delivery is free if you spend £70 Uhhh ... no

And yes - any mention of credit is definitely not allowed on here so has something changed ?

Why does the hot uk deals suggestion mention buy now pay later but i cant post anything from very because it encourages credit or something similar they said
    bozo007's avatar
Looks like they have rolled out something without fully testing for their own constraints.

hi thank you for sharing. We have created a bug ticket, because the suggested text you quoted includes FCA prohibited content which we are not permitted to promote at this time [more here: Credit and Insurance deals (FCA)]
You can also buy now and pay later. That's handy if you're a bit short on cash right now.

Please be assured it was your sites suggestion of the text and nothing to do with myself. I simply copied the suggested description.

Is the suggestion feature powered by ChatGPT or something? If so, I'd prefer to avoid it/opt out.

Because whatever it was was hallucinating the price of my crisps deal, both in suggested price and suggested description areas, as it was trying to suggest that it was priced at £12.04 rather than the £13.50 it actually was.

Noted! You can always choose to not use the suggested content, but we definitely don't want it to be inaccurate. Thanks for your feedback, taking that with me on the needed improvement list!

New suggested one really reads awful. Is it actually a thing?

It's trying to be personable and friendly but instead comes across as cold and robotic, like blatant AI, or at least, a door to door salesman trying to convince you he's got the best deals going. (edited)

Thanks a lot for your feedback – I've worked on the project and we're happy to get feedback on it, it will help us improve the suggested content.
