Xbox going third party now?

videogameschronicle.com/new…es/

A new multi-platform approach for certain Xbox games is emerging inside Microsoft, we’re told, with the company weighing up which titles will remain exclusive and others that will appear on Switch or PS5 in the future. Indiana Jones appears to be part of this new wave of multi-platform games."

Makes sense since they can't compete in the hardware market

Competing for hardware is a fools errand, there wont be dedicated consoles in 10/20 years it will all be cloud based. MS know this and are positioning themselves for that. Sony have been slow to react and should have partnered with google back in the stadia days.

Sony have lost the console wars, they just havent realised yet

Yes it looks like it with all the leaks yesterday, if true you know the writings on the wall for the Xbox console if they put games like Starfield, Indy and many others on the PS5, Switch, but as Deedie says it does make sense and will bring in millions in revenue. (edited)

i think Phil Spencer walks if this goes ahead. I believe the other execs got spooked with what was expected from Starfield and they're going nuclear.

so long as they keep GP, xcloud and i have access to my bought games, i'll be fine.

They will always follow the money - whatever makes the most profit. Why tie yourself to one platform with an exclusive, when you can distribute to them all?
Sadly I doubt you will ever see a Spiderman game on anything other than a Sony device (licensing issues!). In fact licensing is what will make or break cross platform distribution - look at what happened to Friday 13th. Lots of games ran into issues with licensing - it's not a hardware limitation.

Either that’s terrible PR or some of the rumours are in fact true.

My opinion/thoughts are that Xbox is going full-blown Game Pass. Like Sega, they’re going to give up the hardware market, unless it’s a streaming device or controller.

So, additional rumours are that they have green lit two new hardware SKUs (possibly a hand held)
