Looking for a WI-FI booster

I'm looking for a WI-FI booster / extender. We have vodafone gigabit fibre, but the signal range to the back of our house drops out at times. I've been looking at past deals on here, I don't think I need to go down the mesh route, but was looking for something to strengthen the signal for a TV and consoles in an area 2 rooms away. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a tenda nova MW3 set of wifi extenders (cheap, cheerful and do the job)

These are good for the price, but they wouldn’t be able to handle the Gigabit speed if that’s what OP wants.

Most of the range extenders are pretty bad. And if you are using the bog standard THG3000 Router from Vodafone then that absolutely sucks as well. Definitely either get your own good router that will probably have a better range, or go for a mesh if you're not confident that this alone would help your range issues.

TP-Link is generally a good choice of brand when looking for a router or mesh system if you just want something you can easily set up with minimal fuss. They have a wide range of products no matter what your budget is so just go for whatever is affordable to you. AC Wireless will do the job, but ideally look for WiFi 6 or 6E if you can afford it and want to really make the most out of your gigabit connection.

You'll need to contact Vodafone by phone or live chat. They'll happily text you your PPPoE username and password. Once you've got this you can use your own router or mesh system without having to connect it via Vodafone's own router first - And you should notice an improvement in your WiFi after that.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it.

    Run a wire.
20 metres of Cat8 cable is less than £20. Then a splitter or transceiver. Then you are guaranteed a connection

Sound nice and easy but most here aren’t able to do this as certainly for me it would end up with visible cables which would peeve the wife off.

What I’ve done is setup a mesh using Linksys WiFi 6 which allows both wired and wireless mesh repeaters. Not cheap but there again wasn’t mega expensive either.

Vodafone will provide you with boosters, one should have come with your order. But they provide upto 3 boosters as long as you can show them that the signal is not good.

No need to buy anything - you can get up to 3 free with your current package. Just phone up and request - will only send one at a time (usually) OR

download their app and it will take you through a room by room test and if any room is showing poor connection or speeds (might be below 20) you can order one through the App right there and then.

I have 2 on my package - ran a test in the back garden and ordered one from that

I have the vodafone version of the 'booster' they gave me last year, it's pretty useless. It cannot be use via the app to be the default connection point for devices right next to it

I second the comment about just buying an aftermarket router.
I've got an Asus, used them for over a decade now, excellent routers with solid range.
If you're feeling flush the Ubiquiti brand is probably as good as it gets, you'll never have to worry about wifi / speed issues again.
