Worth checking price of these from Orico store on Aliexpress.
Last one I got off there cost me less than £6 and arrived in 8 days

Forgive me for being a bit dim but is the transfer speed irrelavent? Surely the read write speed is the actual marker to go by. My reconning is, it doesnt matter how fast the train gets there its how long it takes to get the passengers off the train that counts! Sorry I'm old and get confused easily.

It depends what Gen your USB ports are.
For example: If you have USB 3.2 Gen 1 x1 ports, then you will be limited to max 500 speed.

Received mine today it was clearly a used one. Can say that since I have bought this model before.
Signs: The thermal pad was already sticking onto the heatsink and came with a single rubber insert and no plastic wrap on the enclosure.

Thanks - 9.99 for me as there was a 5% voucher too!

Ideal as I literally pulled out a 1TB SSD yesterday that needs a home!

got one of these last years, seems to have issues with compatibility, works ok on my pc but can be really unpredictable with other devices, can cause random crashes when being used as media source on tv or even on other PCs.

It's possible a firmware upgrade will help with compatibilty problems.
If you look back through previous Orico threads, you'll find a link within to get the updates.

I bought this one a while ago and it just wouldn't connect to my Macbook at all, tried different cables and SSD's but it was the enclosure. Bought a ugreen one instead and worked perfectly

had a model pretty similar to this (only USB C, i think otherwise it was the same) that worked for 6 months before dying. they eventually shipped me a replacement but it took a fair bit of palaver, complaining on amazon etc before i even got a peep out of them.

Just arrived. Put a Crucial 2TB NVME in there and all seems to be working fine on my M1 Pro Macbook pro

Why don't they just put the transfer speed and the read/write speed in the same units i.e. MB/s or Mb/s or Gb/s.

I know it's an easy calculation but it would be more convenient just the same.

literally everywhere that can use a bigger number does this trick and it drives me bananas. your storage, your broadband, your mobile, your network hardware.

users have an intuitive understanding of what a gigabyte is and almost no one uses it, on purpose lol
