sorted byMore importantly for me, does one run better on Steam Deck?
(tbh I'm not even interested in Diablo on Steam, have it on PS5. But I'm curious as all comments here are VERY for Last Epoch and I had never heard of it.
Thanks!
- D4 The story mode is very good but end game is truly awful:
- Far too much time wasted riding about on the open world.
- Dungeons are just boring as hell, and again far too much time wasted running around finding door opening mechanisms then running back through cleared content.
- No loot filter so you spend 90% of your time checking the stats on every item for the 1 in a billion item that has enough useable stats that you can 'craft', this gets really bad when you are semi geared and looking to min max.
- Crafting is just awful and highly limited.
- Pet builds are not viable end game because they don't want players to have easy mode, yet they allow builds like ball lightning that can kill end game uber bosses in 3 seconds by spamming 1 button ...
- The class build system is poor, a very basic trait system with an awful gem and table system.
- The biggest problem thou is it is just boring as hell to play.
- Last Epoch on the whole is a lot better but its far from perfect, class building is vastly better with far more choice, the skill system is much better and allows for changes even end game.
- I find the initial campaign bitty and weak compared to D4.
- Custom loot filter system is superb
- Crafting system is an excellent mid point balance between Diablo and the insanely complicated PoE system. I would say its my fav crafting system in any ARPG, accessible but with risk.
- I love it gives players the choice of either farming all their own loot using prophecies to target item slots or taking an auction house path so they can trade and buy hard to find items, a very original and excellent solution.
- many viable pet and totem builds
- It suffers from the same problem as D4 thou, usable bases with enough stats to work on even with the very flexible crafting system are just so ultra rare. I have seen streamers farm for 100+ hours on high corruption to fill an item slot with decent stats.
- Monoliths echos can often be cleared too quickly, some in 10-15 seconds
- Massive difference in build power (needs chronic balancing) means some struggle past corruption 200 and some can clear 1900+ !!! which means most players just use meta build templates for the over powered builds rather than making use of the creative system. (edited)
Played the first two hours, went clickaclickaclicka, laughed at the overwrought cutscenes, couldn't recall any difference in gameplay between it and 1997 Diablo, couldn't get excited about the isometric graphics.
It was a relief too because one of our four-person gaming band was really pushing hard for us to spend £25+ on it as our next multiplayer game. I tried it for the free weekend but none of them did. I think we dodged a tedious, repetitive bullet but I can see the classic and addictive gameplay loop appealing to others.
