If you can source one of the magnetic keyboards for these they are great - the official ones are samsung level quality and integrates into the tablet well. (edited)

Most important go me is future updates - how many years of security and Android updates do Xiaomi guarantee?
    boro4ever's avatar
    From their website.
We do our best to provide continuous security updates for our smartphones, covering the brands of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. The security updates generally include the latest security patches, security vulnerability fixes, and other security improvements. Typically, we will maintain the security updates for at least 2 years after the first shipment of a certain device model. We regularly publish and update the end-of-life (EOL) product list below to help you check whether your smartphone can receive security updates.*We may support the security updates for 3 years or longer for some models, which are subject to actual conditions. If a very serious security vulnerability is discovered, we may also provide the necessary security fixes to you, even if your device is in the EOL product list.

I know where you are coming from. I don't think you'll beat Google or apple devices for updates. At this price point I think it's worth a punt. Once it's out of support I wouldn't use it for banking etc (edited)

Not much else competes at this price tbh

How does this compare to the Amazon Fire 11 Max which you can get for £100 new on ebay (4gb, 128gb).

It's better but the big difference is the os

So if I buy this tablet is it the same as buying a Global Rom version from Aliexpress?
    formsm2000comp's avatar
No mate. This is EU UK version with a UK plug. If you want to install a custom ROM, strongly suggest you unlock your bootloader before updating to HyperOS. So basically don't update it when it turns on. No issues with the above if you are not installing a custom ROM.
  8. Snuffpig's avatar
Does anyone know if this supports AV1 hardware decoding?
    GOODSTUFF's avatar
    it doesn’t

For anyone buying this. links below on AliExpress for screen protector and case. Case is fantastic and allows rotation.

As I have OCD If I apply a screen protector and there is one bubble I start again. Pack came with two but I destroyed one. Both came in same box. So probably same seller under different accounts.

Sorry if hukd mods mess with my links so they get commission.

Look on eBay currently. Two for £160 or less. I am a Xiaomi fanboy. But they don't sell well in the UK especially second hand.

Two weeks ago I got a new sealed UK unit for £160 after cashback.

Loads selling them after getting them for free with Xiaomi 14.
Got mine running crdroid after unlocking the bootloader. Did this before HyperOS update to avoid problems.

Still looking for the 8 band pro for around £15 all in. Down from £55 RRP.
    xxxman123's avatar
These go for no less than £230 on Ebay

Great price. I'm still rocking the older 5 but this is cheaper than I paid for that

Thanks Switchy. You've posted some cracking deals over the last couple of days, really appreciated.

Followed instructions to the letter, price showing as £269.99, the coupon to reduce it further isn't applying.

Ignore, you have to move to the second step of checkout for it to apply. (edited)
  18. OB1's avatar
Shame it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner. I'm guessing this therefore wouldn't be great for sharing in a family with different user accounts.

    52455695-kruPl.jpgWell....I don't know....Should I, is it worth £200?
    boro4ever's avatar
    Definitely

Wonder if it's a significant step up compared to Honor Pad x9 for the price uplift. I know it's in a different league in terms of pixels, RAM and camera quality, but for normal usage like surfing and watching videos, is it a helpful upgrade (particularly this is around £100 more expensive)? thanks
  21. ZuuTube_'s avatar
Can you draw / trace on these like the Samsung and apple tabs?
    boro4ever's avatar
There is a pen you can buy for it.

Hi Switchy, on the other expired post we are unable to get the points earned converted to generate the extra discount.
    Paul_S77's avatar
Same, when you click through to the Redeem link it takes you to the Mi Points page. Click on Coupons and the closest option is 800 points for £80 off £300. Not the 600 points suggested. Maybe starts tomorrow?

And does anyone know how the £300 aspect works for these coupons?

Does the price have to be £300+ before the sites auto £50 off £300 discount, or after that has been applied?

As in if I have £301 in the basket can both be applied?

(With the 7 day validity want to make sure before I buy.

Currently with £44 of Mi Points and all the existing auto discounts and £30 off coupons I can get some products down to really good prices, just wondering if they will go lower.) (edited)
  25. wakkaday's avatar
    Can you load custom rom
  26. Paul_S77's avatar
Could I get this lower if I used 800 Mi Points to get an £80 off £300 couponr?

I think I would lose the £30 coupon benefit (no double coupons)...but could get it down to £189 that way?

    £319-£50 auto-£80 coupon? =£189

    Would that work? (edited)
    Brutes's avatar
Any chance for this to happen?

Do you get the UK charger or EU?
Unsure whether to get this today or wait till tomorrow and maybe it might be cheaper?
Today's deal expires so there is a risk?
I also wanted to buy the Mrs a note 12. Can I only use the coupons on one product? (edited)
