Each Certified Refurbished Steam Deck has been thoroughly tested to the same high standards as our retail units. Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving over 100 tests at one of Valve's facilities. Among the tests are all controller inputs, the audio system, the screen, and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
All refurbished units meet or even exceed the performance standards of new retail units. Although they may have minor cosmetic blemishes, they provide a reliable, high-quality gaming experience at a lower cost.

You can check it here:
Your Library on Deck (steampowered.com) (edited)
My only complaints are: I wish I got a larger internal drive, some quirks of the OS can be annoying. As I get older, convenience is getting more and more important so using heroic launcher and emudeck are nice, I'd rather a single button on steam big picture to launch the game I selected without a bunch of set up.
Pros:
- My partner is happy that I can sit on the couch beside her and game
- I can pause the games whenever
- I've played so many games I wouldn't have thought about, and discovered some amazing finds because of it.
- Game library is affordable IMO
- Get a dock and use your old bluetooth controllers for co-op.
Cons:
- Low battery life on bigger games
- Won't run things well like Helldivers 2 (but can run Cyberpunk / RDR2 fine).
Got a refurbished Asus ROG Ally instead and it's a much better experience. Aside from not being faulty, full Windows 11 (as much as I personally prefer macOS/Linux) is much better for gaming. So far has played everything I've installed on it, without having to lookup games on ProtonDB and figure out what settings are needed to get it running.
I had no issues with the Steam Deck but having upgraded to the Ally, the hardware seems a lot better.
Running gamepass is really hassle free as well. (edited)
I bought a 64GB and I am about to upgrade it, its just not enough capacity with all the shaders/proton files. (edited)
I got the 64GB deck for £240 returned last week. Increase the memory to 1TB and I'm so happy with it. Yea, the OLED would be nice, but for so much less money it's worth it.
Nobody should be paying more than £200 for Steam Dead if they are serious about value for money.
Love being able to pick up the deck and play whenever even just for a few mins. Press the power button and right back in the game where I left it.
I had some hands on time with my nephew's Rog Ally and neice's Steam Deck before hand.
The Rog Ally was constantly on charge and I have plenty of devices to run Windows on, so went for the Steam Deck. No regrets.
The SD is a great machine don't get me wrong, but being unable to use Gamepass without streaming is a major drawback for a PC gamer really.
Honestly I prefer stocking up games of my own choosing during the big Steam sales to gamepass these days.
I presume you can cast it to a tv/ hdmi out?
It's Linux based so not ideal if you want to run Windows specific apps.
I haven't had a handheld console since Gameboy but my children have switches.
