Make sure you budget for a suitable PFD
And for anyone new to SUP, no knowledge of the sea etc do your reading. There are some great Facebook groups which can offer a while wealth of free advice and experience, groups and group paddles to join etc.
Always advisable to take some lessons and if intending to paddle on the sea, with someone who can teach you the important things to know and understand before venturing out yourself.
Safety first, respect the water, respect the sea = years of happy paddling in what can be a wonderful sport/ leisure activity when done right

Side note - many owners report that these boards are very heavy to carry.
There is a dedicated Bluefin owners Facebook group which gives lots of great info and advice, reviews etc (edited)

Weight for 12" is around 12kg. I don't consider it very heavy and for a board this size is around average.

As well as allowing for a PFD, you also need a suitable pump. These are specialist pumps with two motors, I picked up a used one for under £30.

Bluefin are a very good make but overpriced. This deal though is a standout among all their other SUPs.

Well that deal didn't last long. Back to their usual over the top price again.

Pulls people in, clever marketing in a saturated market around that price point.
From what I've seen about quality, weight etc I'd pay more every time for much better quality and value for money, equipment that will last for many years and make the whole experience easier with great stability from the start and light carbon paddle etc

Don't forget the obligatory dry robe that all beach posers need.
    Haylhoo's avatar
Other brands available - Red equipment robes much better quality

Amazing price for one of these boards. We have one - And it's great!, 😁

I'll add to the comments about them being great boards. I've got one already but the 10'8 one and the 12' is more suitable for my height (6'2"). Much better quality than the cheap ones you see around and this one comes with the kayak seat and additional paddle blade which the other colours don't. Purchased this one so that I can go out with the kids too! Great spot akil! (edited)

I'm 5ft 8 and want to take both my sons on this or atleast one son..would you say the 12ft one would be ideal for 1 adult and 1 child (10 yo)

I saw this earlier and thought it might be a good deal if anyone is interested as seems like a good price in comparison to this bluefin.

How does an inflatable compare to a solid paddle board, if anyone is familiar with both?
    DaveLTFC's avatar
I've got both - that depends on what you're planning to do with the Bluefin. If you're going to use it for adventures up and down estuaries/rivers then 100% get an inflatable. If you're going to tackle the rough sea and go around the UK then you'll need a hardboard (akin to a surfboard) that being said I use my iSUP to go out in the sea around South Devon on mildly windy days with a little bit of chop and it holds up well. Happy to answer any other questions. I've got 3 boards and I'm bagging this as it's an absolute bargain just as an FYI.

SUP boards are SUP boards.....most come out of the same factory.

The more expensive manufacturers have managed to convince enough people they are better by bunging free ones to so-called influencers.
    Haylhoo's avatar
Absolutely no truth in this at all
Until you experience the difference between the higher end products, not just the boards but the paddles, travel bags etc you can never appreciate the massive difference in quality, stability, ease of paddling etc.
I would never waste my money on a cheaper board unless it was for bobbing about in the shallows.
It is well documented that, while many are made in the same factory, they higher end boards are made with higher quality materials, glues etc and it shows!
Also, must cheap boards are just a rip off of each other reproduced with a new name stuck on. Higher end are designed and produced from scratch and made to the specification of the brand.
Speak to small companies such as Quroc and also speak to anyone who owns higher end boards such as Red paddle Co (the market leader for many years and there's a good reason for that! )
I see these comments all too often, don't be fooled, with sup you very much get what you pay for. Investing in the right quality board which is suitable for you will give you many years of enjoyment.
Don't buy online, call into a supplier or a specialist water sports outlet who knows what they are talking about. (edited)

This should feel much more stable, but probably a lot heavier. Quality should be better.
    Happy, safe, paddling
