The Callisto Protocol is Steam Deck verified.

This is part of April's Humble Choice.

About the game
In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter's moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter's Dead Moon.
The Callisto Protocol is a next-generation take on survival horror from the mind of Glen Schofield. Blending atmosphere, tension, and brutality with terrifying moments of helplessness and humanity, The Callisto Protocol immerses players in a pulse-pounding story where unspeakable horrors lurk around every corner.
Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol casts players as Jacob Lee, an inmate in Black Iron Prison. When a mysterious outbreak throws the moon into chaos, Jacob must face his darkest fears to defeat the bloodthirsty creatures that stalk him as he unravels the dark mysteries at the heart of the powerful United Jupiter Company.
The Callisto Protocol challenges players to master a thrilling blend of hand-to-hand and ranged combat, including a unique gravity weapon once used by Black Iron guards to control the prison population. Players will be forced to get up close and personal with their grotesque opponents, hacking off limbs, blasting off legs, and getting creative with whatever is at their disposal to survive each life-or-death encounter.
One of the most hostile, isolated environments in the universe, Callisto looms large over Jacob’s desperate struggle to survive. Players must not only contend with the horrors of Black Iron Prison, but also the centuries-old secrets that plague Jupiter’s long-dead moon, both above and below the surface.

Tempted. I know the reviews haven't been the best but it's got to be worth the price of a coffee?

    That's my only positive

I had this played it for a couple of hours as most have said visually it was amazing but I just didn't find it kept my attention.

I paid £20 and felt like I got my monies worth so £5 is a billy bargain.

Way better than people say. Worth a tenner easily.

One of the most disappointing and frustrating games I've played in recent memory. It's a graphically attractive, but otherwise shameless and inferior imitation of Dead Space (speaking as a big fan of that series and survival horror in general).

still worth a play through. last boss was annoying and some parts are impossible to get through unless you've loaded up on weapons before, but apart from that enjoyable

Great game like dead space if you played that

Great game especially at this price. Visually stunning, good story with some scary moments and decent combat system

Well worth a playthrough for this price.

One of the best ray-tracing implementations out there and a good linear game. A no brainer at this price.

Haven't played it but the combat looked very frustrating.

Got it cheap last year and enjoyed it. Might even get the DLC on sale and play again. They made some strange decisions eg how you have to fight in some areas (boss fights) but its easy enough to move the controller stick 'timed left-right' as the game requires. Its not the best but still a good game

Wasn't the DLC just alternate death and attack animations, was it that mind numbing?

I got it from a similar site for 3.71... I wondered why it was suddenly so cheap, then realized it's part of this month's Humble. I've heard the DLC should be played, and people were disappointed that it wasn't part of the main campaign, as it's on-par and inline with that...making it a decent DLC, but also apparent cash grab (?). No doubt the DLC costs like 3x as much as the game at this price lol (edited)

Couldn't get past the climbing down the ladder in the prison after the cut screen of the dome through the window. All the Devs sacked so don't count on any patches soon
