HM Alma de Bayahibe offers up a handful of sea-view pools, around-the-world dining options and a laidback waterfront locale.

This place has secured a stellar spot on the Dominican Republic's south-east coast. You can get to Bayahibe's restaurant-filled town centre in less than 10 minutes' drive, and the beach is even closer.

There's a quartet of pools to pick from here, so you'll have loads of choice when it comes to swimming and sunbathing sessions. There are five restaurants on offer, too, including a buffet and four off-the-menu spots. Elsewhere, the grounds are scattered with sunloungers and daybeds for relaxing on.

Key Features
  • Seaside setting
  • 4 pools
  • 5 restaurants

Location Information
  • Free shuttle bus to Dominicus Beach
  • 3km to Bayahibe Beach
  • 10km to a golf course

Getting to the hotel
  • 80 minutes from PUNTA CANA AIRPORT (by Coach)

Hope it helps someone

Yes, I suspect it is cheap due to the issue in Haiti and the high threat assigned to the DR by the foreign office

HH75 code gives an extra £75 off this holiday now - more than the BLUE30 code posted above.

Looks nice but I'd be worried about the BBQ they are having next door. Although this does look almost as far away from Haiti as you could get on the island

Still only about 300 miles so not exactly a lifetime away. Border is pretty secure though by all accounts

Extra £379 each for the premium cabin if you fancy a more comfortable flight

Can you even get travel insurance for DR right now?

Is it safe to travel to the Dominican Republic right now?

Where did you get this Danger Level as on the Government website I can't find any such warning

I like when holidays are cheaper than living in the UK.

I'd be nervous given the problems everyone else mentioning. But saying that, with all the peaceful protest violence in the big cities here right now, I might take my chances.
