I've switched to using butter beans with chopped tomatoes, a bit of ketchup, and various herbs. There's a bit more to it to get the sauce right, but it's a game changer if you really like this kind of thing. I am aware of how pretentious this sounds, but I can't think of another way to share this info and hopefully someone is like 'hmmm, that might be worth a go'

That sounds a lot more expensive than a tin of Branston or Heinz though
  2. ellie27's avatar
Even at this price of 45p per tin I am still buying Sainsbury's own beans at 27p.

    And they're lovely

Agreed. Used to be able to easily tell the difference between Heinz and other brands, but now even the budget options taste much the same
  5. swarnford's avatar
Still a ridiculous price for what is just beans
  6. robotdude's avatar
I'm buying supermarket own these days. Sainsburys ones are nice. I'm boycotting overpriced brands until things change

Maybe a few years ago I’d have gone for these - not now, Heinz have gone downhill. Branston all the way
    Zammo's avatar
Same as me, 2 years ago I switched to Branston.
  8. MaxxHaze's avatar
Nah... over hyped, way over priced. Aldi, Lidl, supermarket own brands, all better and much cheaper.

State of this country that this is a deal.

Squeeze of BBQ sauce in the Aldi brand and you get KFC BBQ beans. Super tasty. Bramwells for the win.
  11. bewilliams's avatar
I tried Heinz again after years of eating Branston and Heinz are gross, watery and tasteless. Branston beats them by a land mile.

If you are a Costco member you can get Branston Baked Beans In Tomato Sauce, 24 x 410g for £12.

50p a can an they are beaut.

I tried it after reading comments on this site. It was disgusting. People should say not for people who like sweet stuff or like tomato or even have taste buds for that matter.

Their greed priced them out of the market for me, a couple of years on and I wouldn't touch there watery cr*p if they were free. Be interesting to see if they need at some point to compete with home brands.

Agree. Can't help think their ridiculous prices of late might have left them a shed ton of stock to deep discount.

£9.80 for 24 tins. Can't sniff at that, most own brands are 40p+ now.
    Zammo's avatar
How do you get £9.80 for 24 tins ? On mine I added 4 and it shows £11.90.
  33. Bargainhunter270's avatar
Why is it only showing me for one pack? When I change the quantity to 2, the price just doubles?
    Moss.b's avatar
