Last week I attended a ladder/stepladder user/inspector course, we were told that this type of ladder are dangerous due to the locking mechanism, apparently the lock indicator can look like it is locked but its not, very high failure rate in testing. I have not done any research on this, I am just passing on information received from the instructor on the coarse, just wanted to share with all of you, as I wouldn’t want to see anyone injured, so please don’t shoot the messenger, if you buy some please take care and check each section is locked in securely (edited)

I have real world experience of this exact scenario. Scared the crap out of me.

I would never go higher than a couple of feet on mine now.

My Onbuy telescopic ladder bent sending me falling. As Onbuy are Chinese, accident claims company did not want to know and Onbuy were non responsive on even the warranty claim

2.6 isn't very high. I have those foldable three part aluminium ladders. Pretty sold, bit at 3.5m it's too small for outdoor jobs. Need 5 or 6m at least

Huh? But thats normal on any ladder. You're not supposed to use the top ones because then you have nothing supporting your body. The fact that these ladders have warnings on those steps is a plus if anything since it informs people not to use the top steps of ladders and clearly it seems to be working.

It’s worth checking it meets the standard for telescopic ladders, EN 131-6. Also, ladders with a space between the rungs will avoid you loosing a finger.
