    DRAM-less QLC NAND again.
You can pick up a number of 2TB DRAM-less TLC NAND drives for between £64-80 (even 2TB Gen4 TLC for £80).
    hotukdeals.com/com…590

Not saying QLC is useless, but why pay more for a drive that costs less for a company to manufacture?
This should be £65-70 at most right now.

Crucial are owned by Micron so they likely pay cost price for the NAND (or a little over at most), so there's no real excuse to charge more for QLC drives than other brands TLC NAND drives when TLC is superior and costs more to manufacture, especially when those brands don't even get TLC for anywhere near cost price (except Kioxia, Samsung, and the very few others that do manufacture their own NAND).

Deals like this are like paying £20 for a polyester bedsheet when you can get pure cotton for £15, it makes no sense.

    Sorry rad. (edited)

Yaaaas keep dropping in price you fabulous little wedges of tech

The ideal here would be to nuke a credit card getting four sticks of 4TB drives, in one of those JBOD enclosures. They're coming down to a price where that's less of a pipe dream...

I'm waiting for the 4TBs to drop too. Wanting a 4 or 5 bay NAS with them.

The gen4 version was available for just over £80 a few days ago using the same code

I'm sure that's great if you have a Gen 4 slot. If not, may as well save yourself 10%!!

To use as external, do I need gen 3 or gen 4?

Gen3, USB can't get anywhere near gen3 speeds, nevermind gen4.
