Just got back from this cruise, worth every penny it was an amazing holiday, you won't regret it. Drinks are not included but tea coffee herbal teas etc are all included in the buffet and restaurants. You also get orange juice, apple juice etc in the morning but not throughout the day in the buffet areas. You could take your own drink aboard sneak in your suitcase, they don't really mind, but don't take my word on that. Id still hide the fact you are. You will have a nice cooler fridge in the room too for any beverages. There's a gym on board various swimming pools and jacuzzis etc. All the entertainment is really good too and very good music in Havana Bar, where they do stand up comedy shows & singer tributes etc.. There are many bars onboard so you can pick and choose. There's also a silent disco which was very fun. There is duty free shopping ofc, which is very cheap alcohol and cigarettes and various other shops onboard. The arena has many shows also and they also set this up as a cinema with recent movies for example the new Black panther/elvis etc. You won't get bored as there's always something to do and it went super quick. Theres everything for the family to do including Table tennis, archery, cricket, arcades etc... There are also classes in the gym with personal trainers some are paid but some are not. Also facial and feet advice for the ladies and arthritis stretches/classes etc... There are also dancing classes which include line dancing & ball room etc. There are various restaurants onboard doing different menus, Cinnamon, Saffron and bay tree, and buffet style restaurants are all included, including the burger bar and Pizza bar at the swimming pool area.
The Beach House, The Glass house, The emporium & Indian restaurant are all extra money, Some vary to cheap - expensive. The paid restaurants are better pre book on my holidays @ P&O so you don't miss out like I did on the last day as they were fully booked in the The Beach House Everything you buy onboard is charged to your room, which is charged to your card when you checked in. We thought we would have more time in Amsterdam though as P&O told us we would arrive at midday the next day but, we set sail for 5pm in the afternoon and didn't arrive at the port until 5pm the following day but got delayed for an extra hour and half because of another ship which wasn't their fault. We left the following day after that at midnight. So we got a night and a full day in Amsterdam. Then we had a full day on the ship and you will go to sleep and arrive in Southampton in the morning after. At around 8am. Don't worry you get breakfast in the morning before you disembark.
I would say the ship is getting a bit tired here and there, but it's a very elegant and nice looking ship overall and you won't be disappointed at all.
I also checked that they are giving Ventura a refurbishment end of 2023/2024.
Before we travelled though they did confirm with us there is a noravirus outbreak so bear that in mind, we sanitised a lot, but might be gone by the time this was departs.
Anything else you need to know let me know.

Also to add if you want to save money don't buy the excursions onboard always look elsewhere first, as i got the canal cruise for €9.99 each on Groupon.nl and many other deals on there too. Unfortunately I can't find that deal any longer. PayPal also accepted. You can also check out Socialdeal.nl . May need a VPN connected to the Netherlands and then just translate Groupon to English.

*Also to add the ship docks right in Amsterdam, 15 mins walk to Amsterdam, not far at all so no extra cost there.* Everything is flat, Amsterdam is well known to be flat, no hills. Bear in mind it's a big place and lots to do. (edited)

How does the duty free ‘work’ - when can you buy it/when do you receive it ?

also, how did you get to Southampton, did you drive and park somewhere, if so where ? (edited)

Interesting that they include meals but there is no mention of drinks - have nearly been caught out by this before.
    Burgmeister's avatar
You can take 1 litre of alcohol aboard per adult (beer, wine, spirits etc) and as many soft drinks as you can carry. These are for drinking in your cabin though.

I've posted the (approximate) prices of P&O drinks on a number of other deals but, in summary, beer is about a fiver a pint, cocktails start at £6.95 and spirits with a mixer are about £6 - £6.50.

Bottles of wine in the restaurant start at about £19. (edited)

Is seascanner reliable? Seen reviews about booking reference not valid etc.
    mungler1's avatar
I booked direct with P&O over the phone, they price matched Seascanner so my booking reference was direct from P&O
  4. Fonsocruise's avatar
Shame it's only 2 adults and 2 kids per room. It won't let me add my other 5 month old baby as I have to get another room just to include her? ...
    Redninja24367's avatar
Yes it's only 4 per state room, but I would ring P&O and contact them and see what they could do. But I think they are strict on the 4 per state room policy. Also bear in mind the inside cabin which we had, there were 3 of us, you will have 2 twin beds either side and 2 beds which fold down off the wall, which will be above the other single beds, just like bunk beds. You get a ladder too so don't worry. As you can see in the picture it is above folded away. And it's very easy to fold and put away in the morning. Your steward will fold it out for you each day in the late afternoon before you go to bed.
Bear in mind it's just somewhere to sleep you are not staying the cabin all day you won't even see it much at all. Too much to do.

Does anyone know what time this will be departing Amsterdam on the 18th?
    Burgmeister's avatar
    Hopefully the captain will

They could sell this for £1 and I still wouldn't buy it after what they did to all the British staff, I won't forget even if the government has
    Newbold's avatar
Others will advise you that that was a different company - P&O Ferries. This is P&O Cruises.

However, there are remarkable similarities in the way they treat overseas staff.

What's the difference between these, i.e. what does PC, PF, SC mean?

I have just booked this for me & the missus. Never been on a cruise before. I paid £576 for a better room with a balcony. Should be fun.....
    Redninja24367's avatar
The balcony is a very nice room, we had a sneak peak before we went off board when everyone was leaving, It was a spacious and nice size balcony.

Pretty cold and gloomy route. Might get very unlucky with the weather for the area. If you wish to get knackered then, Bob's your only-fans sister.

I went in July and some days were really warm, while others were rainy. Most evenings were cool but had great views.

    Yes, some days were gloomy

    While others were lovely.

    Don't go on Ventura
Just back from it, after a norovirus outbreak onboard, which may have been caused by the poor hygiene, especially the numerous w.c blocked or out of order.
    Old, dated and rocky ship
    Newbold's avatar
Hardly old, at 14 years, and certainly not rocky. It’s getting a bit shabby now and needs a full refit, but P&O aren’t very good at keeping their ships up to scratch.  It costs money, and they don’t have a lot!

Norovirus occurs regularly on all ships - almost always brought on by passengers and caused by the poor hygiene of some of them. Spreads like wildfire, onboard and ashore. Covid is also still an issue on cruise ships.

Went on the Ventura for my honeymoon 13 years ago.

    Good price!

I envy you folk who live around the Southampton area: if I did I’m sure I’d end up going on a fair few of these discounted cruise deals that seem to crop up quite frequently..

If you needed a taster, I would say this would be an excellent cruise experience⚓
    chrisjlocke's avatar
    Definately agree.

Something nice and relaxing about just watching the World go by, as the waves lash by. Guess it's why old people like sitting in deckchairs at the beach!

Got my eye on a similar June one. Hoping price comes down a bit like the others are doing.
    This is great deal
    Lukeff7's avatar
Nice - I’d rather go in June too. Which date is it? Same boat, same itinerary?

    Yes you can
  22. andy_spoo's avatar
It's a good price, but it's not really a cruise. It's a ship that takes you from A to B that has restaurants on etc.
Am I the only one that thinks a cruise is where you go from one country to another, to another?
    chrisjlocke's avatar
It's not just A to B. You stop off on places en route.

    50048128-U6LdV.jpg
If you're in a car, are you not driving? On a plane, you're flying? On a boat, you're cruisin'.

Are there usually any good deals for outside or balcony rooms?
    Rmcstar's avatar
    Author
This is a good deal for outside @ £10 more per night
  24. Clive_Allen's avatar
what other countries do you stop in or is it just to amsterdam
  25. PR1's avatar
Any idea how long this is in Amsterdam - I guess not two full days, more like get in evening before then head off next afternoon?
  26. MightyHumungus's avatar
Does anyone know what time the ship leaves Southampton? We live 190 miles from Southampton. Trying to decide whether or not to overnight in Southampton. I can't find the departure/boarding times anywhere.
    Joy80's avatar
I think i read it departs at 4pm
