Will this work as a bell for use with ring door bell?

    Yes

Anyone using a Eufy video doorbell, these make great additional chimes. The official ones were £25 each last time I looked (a couple years ago). The next cheapest Alexa device is much more than this, they don't work with Google speakers.

For a fiver, these are worth buying. I've got one in the basement for "lights on/off" but they don't compare obviously to other echo products. Forget playing music on one basically.

Had one of these in the kitchen for a while but it struggled to hear me over water boiling in a saucepan so it got dumped. Ended up with one of the puck echos and the plug adapter thing so it just plugs into the wall instead.

I'm sure they're fine in quiet rooms but not in one where there's noise.

I have the opposite problem..I speak to my Alexa in my room and the flex resounds on the landing

Has anyone with any Eufy kit had an issue getting these Flexs' to work together? I've got a fairly simple set up indoors and bought a couple of these to "extend" my Eufy doorbell coverage - neither are working though... All our other Echos' are fine and play the message and chime when the doorbell is pressed. Thoughts/things to try?

I'm using this Alexa device with my mum's Eufy video doorbell and works fine even though I'm a mile up the road from her house.

I just followed these instructions and it all worked :

Might work as a smart Bluetooth adapter for a 3.5mm-only speaker...and I have one. Only problem is that this isn't available in any Argos' near me

Has anyone worked out if you can control the usb socket on the device. For example, could you plug a usb light into it and then ask it to switch it on/off?

They made lights for them. I have some and the clocks too.

But the flex was discontinued years ago, so they stopped making them..then they brought the flex back.

Still some old stock on some sites, but at a greatly increased price. (edited)

Lol. I've already ordered 2 from Amazon. Not sure why but have enjoyed talking to Alexa as it can get lonely working from home.
    Decoded's avatar
I agree it can feel lonely. I play the radio in the background to help.

These are great if you already have a decent Bluetooth stereo and don't want to spend more on an echo speaker just to add Alexa capabilities. I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone speaker, that's not it's real purpose but connect it to your Bluetooth system and it's spot on.
I was happy paying £10 so £5 is a bargain.

Totally agree. I have a pair of powered bookshelf speakers that don't have wifi/alexa and this is perfect to add that functionality. I didn't know these existed until I started searching for a cheap echo dot to connect to my speakers. Bought when they were a tenner and was chuffed with that.

If you still want one (or two), you can still order them on Amazon for £4.99 and they will fulfil the order once they are back in stock

Adding alexa smarts to a non smart speaker for a fiver is a bargain. I got one when they were a tenner and was chuffed with that.

Can this be used as a replacement chime for ring doorbells does anyone know?
    MasterAK's avatar
Its not as loud as the chime, but it does ring briefly and say someone is at the front door.

It doesn't understand voice as well as it's bigger siblings, especially in noisier environments. And the sound it worthless... but I have one in my hallways that works well just to turn lights on and off...and I have one paired to a bluetooth speaker in the gym... I have to stop running on the treadmill to let it understand me, but other than that it works fine...and has been paired continuously for over a year without dropping, which is quite impressive.
