These things are really poor compared to a remarkable or an iPad with pencil.

Remarkable doesn't have backlight, iPad isn't in the same catalogue, not sure how you judged it's poor, it has the highest PPI in e ink reader, perfect for readers and light note takers, plus the price can be 50% as competitors, also writing experience on iPad feels like skating on ice, it's not even close to any e ink readers. Any advice on which year this model is from and if one can browse the internet (Wikipedia etc)? Thanks.

I think it's either 2022 or 2023, you can use the browser but it's very slow and no adblocker, it's built in as an Amazon shopping tool, you should buy it only for it's basic features, reading and note taking (edited)

Didn't realise these were a thing. Are they nice to sketch on?

Yes, I sketch on mine and the pencil feature is excellent functions like a real pencil with shading tones and filling

I bought a used kindle for 8 quid, sent it back to Amazon, got a 10 quid voucher and and 20% discount, so in total I paid 215 or 220 for it from Amazon.

What is warranty like with these sellers

Depends on the seller, I'd say dont expect anything beyond the 30 days eBay returns period in most cases.

They might try to help if something happens in 6 months time but who knows.
