At the risk of showing my age, there’s no easy way to mount an optical drive in this, is there? I’m not using it nearly as often these days, and I do also have a USB external drive if necessary, I’m not sure I want to give one up.

No, most cases don't now

If it helps, I need one still and don't like using external drives (they're slower, noisier and messy) - only new case I could find on the market that I liked with an optical drive slot is the Antec P10C Antec P10C Thermal Performance Silent ATX Case, Sound Dampening Foam, 4 Silent Fans, USB-C, Fan Controller : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I am still waiting for a new Fractal design define case. This case is looks great but i perfer solid panel with foam to minimise noise

I was torn about whether to go glass or not but decided on this for the aesthetic of having it all one colour. And the fact it was a bargain obvs.

The price is good on this deal so have some heat!

not sure why I recalled this case looked better, that side panel somehow makes it look odd
I think I'll go for a NZXT H7 Flow.
The black & white one is £103.48 now NZXT H7 Flow

I ordered a ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360, uk.pcpartpicker.com claims it won't fit but I've read on a few forums that it does, I'll try my luck. If I have to return , amazon are pretty good (edited)

So it arrived and... yeahhhhhh I didn't really like it. Returning it and bought the Black glass version. It's nice but not as nice as I hoped!
