sorted byNot a photo editor but I am a video editor, the uplift for me was noticeable especially for rendering and heavy vfx.
My daughter has a sick am4 build in our bedroom where it's been in parts for nearly 12 months as my wife's been very ill. As soon as she sees me with a new cpu she will be on me if I can do mine I can do hers. She's spent a fortune on hers and to be fair when she started buying it there was no am5 so she bought a 5800. I do feel guilty as she paid for top spec stuff which I chose a asus rog motherboard corsair rgb fans corsair rgb aio 4x16 gb corsair 3600 rgb not to mention a sick razer rgb Ltd edition case and a few nvme drives.
I know I'm ranting but I know my purchase will drop me right in it as my wife is still very poorly. Swapping a cpu is a 10 minute job and building a new high spec rig with perfect cable management and getting it up and running as it should is a good few hours and with how things are I just don't feel upto it. It took me 6 weeks to install a fast nvme drive, it just lay there in its box for ages and it don't get much easier and quicker than that.
Anyhow this is a great price I don't know how much faster this will be over my 3900 but will allow some stuff built into the 570 chipset to work. I now have a 3900 cpu with no use for, might give it my son to replace his 1700x that should be a massive jump in performance.
There's Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 Memory Kit at a great discount too, anyone know if that would be good alongside this Ryzen?
EDIT - seems price has been reduced further. Just picked one up for £264.41 delivered (edited)
The gaming uplift from the 3700x was noticeable in that it was smoother. Didn't notice any direct increase in the overall FPS but the 1% and .1% lows are obviously better. Also when I have a game on one monitor and YouTube, Discord and what not on the other it's much better at handling all at once.
The video editing and productivity uplift was night and day, cut my rendering times by a lot and able to throw more at it with vfx.
