@radical do you know the rules around that voucher? Wondering if its worth fishing through their ebay store for any other potential bargains with that voucher

You can use the voucher on any item in the store and with other sellers. 20% off, £20 minimum spend, £75 max discount. You can use this link to search for any item that the voucher works on: ebay.co.uk/e/c…ric

Best price I've seen. I grabbed this at 300 two weeks ago. Good processor too, one note I'd say is be prepared to play with fan curve settings, this thing runs hot and so your existing fan will make a lot more noise by default (I have a noctua d15).

wonder if its worth upgrading from amd7 3700x, purely for photo editing. Benchmarks says its about 20% faster.

    I went from a 3700x > 5900x.
Not a photo editor but I am a video editor, the uplift for me was noticeable especially for rendering and heavy vfx.

Would it be worth me upgrading from a 5800x?

Depends if your workload requires more threads. If it doesn't then no.

Finally! I was about to pull the trigger on a used one lol. Used ones are a very close price to this. £16 difference. Would be rude not too lol

Got it for £250 used from CeX when there was another deal, but currently they go there USED for £280, so this current deal is a bargain! I went for AM4, but now regretting it a bit and should have gone for AM5... it's not that much expensive.

Cex was £250 then £275 now they're £280. CeX that is clown pricing you ain't going to be selling a lot of those.

Well bought this, I was going to go for a full am5 series upgrade but the money my am4 cost me I couldn't resist I have a 3900 cpu now so this is perfect and I will get another couple of years out of my rig. My am4 motherboard is msi meg ace which I bought as soon as the 570 chipset dropped and was just under £400 plus my ram it just makes sense to get a bit more out of what I have.

My daughter has a sick am4 build in our bedroom where it's been in parts for nearly 12 months as my wife's been very ill. As soon as she sees me with a new cpu she will be on me if I can do mine I can do hers. She's spent a fortune on hers and to be fair when she started buying it there was no am5 so she bought a 5800. I do feel guilty as she paid for top spec stuff which I chose a asus rog motherboard corsair rgb fans corsair rgb aio 4x16 gb corsair 3600 rgb not to mention a sick razer rgb Ltd edition case and a few nvme drives.

I know I'm ranting but I know my purchase will drop me right in it as my wife is still very poorly. Swapping a cpu is a 10 minute job and building a new high spec rig with perfect cable management and getting it up and running as it should is a good few hours and with how things are I just don't feel upto it. It took me 6 weeks to install a fast nvme drive, it just lay there in its box for ages and it don't get much easier and quicker than that.

Anyhow this is a great price I don't know how much faster this will be over my 3900 but will allow some stuff built into the 570 chipset to work. I now have a 3900 cpu with no use for, might give it my son to replace his 1700x that should be a massive jump in performance.

Finally grabbed one! Thanks OP! Been monitoring prices of Ryzens to max out my AM4 board before they all disappear.

There's Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MHz DDR4 Memory Kit at a great discount too, anyone know if that would be good alongside this Ryzen?

3600MHz is the right speed to be aiming for, I've recently just grabbed the fury renegade. Something in my mind says something about the vengeance not always working perfectly with this CPU, but I can't recall. I tend to just look on amazon reviews, and filter by the name of my processor.

Hmm - price has gone up now - £474.25 with the discount. Think I'll pass.

EDIT - seems price has been reduced further. Just picked one up for £264.41 delivered (edited)

anyone know if this will qualify for the free game as CCL are on the list of people who are approved AMD sellers. I purchased before the price dropped again but either way was still a decent bargain.

Upgraded to a 5900x from a 3700x focused mostly on video editing, but also gaming on the side.

The gaming uplift from the 3700x was noticeable in that it was smoother. Didn't notice any direct increase in the overall FPS but the 1% and .1% lows are obviously better. Also when I have a game on one monitor and YouTube, Discord and what not on the other it's much better at handling all at once.

The video editing and productivity uplift was night and day, cut my rendering times by a lot and able to throw more at it with vfx.

Going from a Ryzen 7 2700x to this bad boy. I don't want to bottleneck it, any recommendations on other parts I should upgrade? I've got a RTX2060 (edited)

Stick to 5700X or 5600X and invest in video card if you game a lot. Do you do a lot of productivity work?
