Im sure this is a good price but why are these so expensive in general? Is there something inherently difficult with making them with higher watt outputs?
    hcc27's avatar
That's because these high wattage chargers use gallium nitride, instead of silicon, as the semiconductor backbone. GaN allows a higher switching frequency, at comparative lower temperatures, hence devices can be made smaller. Prices will come down as the technology goes through the adoption cycle.

Do you need high quality USB c wires to make the most of this? Or will basic USB c cables get the full rate of charge? Thanks all

I picked 2 of these up today, ordered yesterday on Amazon through a deal on HUKD.
I would say you will need more than the basic cables. With these I should be good for at least 5 years.
(if you buy, use the 20% discount code too).
I have mine plugged in to a 65w charger to charge my ps5 controller as I play. (Then remove when fully charged).
Other cables won’t work as they do not have enough power/wattage/whatever.

Nothing but good things to say about Anker, I've been using them for years now.

I've recently got the 65w version and I've never looked back. Great chargers

If you read the description, you'll see this is also a gallium nitride device. It's impossible to hit the switching rates required for 100W output in this small form factor using conventional silicon as the semiconductor.

Got this a couple of days back... And wow

Going from a couple of random fire TV plugs and generic USB cables

    Charges my gaming laptop too

Does anybody know if this comes with an EU plug in addition to the UK one? Thanks.
