Any way to be sure these are originals

They're sold by Amazon so they should be good.

Will these work properly with a Samsung S24U? Will the remote retain functionality?

They should work fine. The remote also now works on Android and Windows devices. Volume up and down as well as play/pause functions as you'd expect on my Pixel. (edited)

What’s the sound quality on these things?

For £15 and usb-c they sound decent (if original). I have a pair.

any non-bias opinions between samsung and apple usb c earphones? both around £15 (edited)

Did you mean non-biased? I don't think there's really such a thing, but it really depends on a lot of things, eg if you want passive noise isolation, what the other headphones you're looking at are like, what shape your ears are, etc etc. Personally as an android user I really still like the sound from my earpods for housework and walking, but they are only part in-ear and not sealed so ymmv. I have smallish ears and prefer buds that don't seal sometimes.
