How streaming here differs from ST60, which is twice the price? (edited)

ST60 if £799, but appears to have same DAC so in theory should sound simular, I guess you pick if you want / need a CD spinner as well or prefer a nice colour display.. The ST60 is also Roon ready which may be important to some but not all, the CD player I don't think is Roon ready, not sure why really though... (edited)

Should be a step up from my Marantz CD6007 and would match my SA10, very tempting (edited)

I bought mine to match my SA10, looks very smart in Norstone frosted glass hifi furniture despite new Radia range. The DAC is much better too than the inbuilt DAC in SA10 which my CDS27 sounded superior too also, a lot different in this case.

The only issue is gapless playback by streaming or USB disk playback, the only app that can get around it by routing data through your phone or tablet is Neutron player, anything else does not work and forget about the Arcam app which is dreadful full stop. I mainly use Bubble uPnP app and USB drive playback but the CDS50 inserts gaps between tracks where you don't want them in continuous music. The only other way to enable gapless is to use software to merge the tracks together as one file and you can't do this with Tidal nor does the CDS50 recognise .cue files for using in merged contiguous merged tracks.

The CDS50 does not support gapless by technical nature, Arcam never addressed this but have built gapless into their new Arcam ST5...

Shame SACD and DVDA died out ...on a half decent system they sounded mega

....those formats died yet vinyl ...and tapes ...of all things ...are thriving . Go figure (edited)

Not completely died out, SACD market is slow but disc s still ccoming out, especially in Japan
