The cake pictured in the posting actually cost £15, the £2 is much plainer

All supermarket "Extra Special" sponge sandwich cakes are vile nowadays.
    Mostly air and sugar.
    Not worth the calories.

The carrot cake is still nice, along with the walnut and coffee one.

Not sure if I'm just a snob but find cakes that last longer then 3 days taste rank

Not a stickler for chemicals but they can't do it yet without it tasting

The sainsburys ones are better & can often be on offer for £2 too! I found this Asda one very sickly & soaked in artificial lemon juice making the sponge soggy!
