Always wanted one of these but could never justify the near £30 Weber ones sell for! Cheers for sharing

Yep the Weber versions are overpriced and work just the same way but I have a cheaper one like this and also a Weber and believe me the Weber is made so much better, my cheapo version is a rusty eyesore but the Weber still looks almost new without any rust and it's been just as much used.
I know which one will still be around in 15 years

These are the best things ever, although through trial and error over the years I would say don't bother stuffing it underneath with newspaper, it just seems to make a lot of smoke and doesn't light the charcoal that well. Instead stand the whole thing on a couple of bricks, place two firelighters directly underneath and the charcoal is guaranteed to light quickly and without burnt little bits of paper blowing about.

The one alternative I've tried that did work is two cardboard egg cartons (one inside the other), far less smoke than newspaper and seemed to do the trick

I think these are great things, especially when used the correct way up! (edited)

Weber ones will be better, longevity and functionally, mines 7 years old and lives outside. It's fine. Also has far more airflow given it has a wire base rather than stamped holes.

Personal choice ofc, but in my opinion the Weber is worth the extra. In fact if you don't mind spending a bit more I'd go for a proQ (edited)

The wired Weber base makes all the difference for heat flow. Also they're built like tanks. These with the holed panel base eventually warp from intense heat, and fall out of place. Weber is expensive, but by jove they're worth it in the long term ROI. My Weber lasted close to two decades before an upgrade, which was based on cosmetic need rather than non functionality.

    Thanks OP. Just bought one.

Has anyone already received theirs? If so, is it small enough to fit inside my Weber Go Anywhere BBQ? TIA.

Just received mine today... Much smaller than I expected! Definitely won't hold enough charcoal for one of our family barbecues!
