Good for those interested in trying out less meat in their diets but confused about how to factor it into their current meals

I had these earlier with home cut deep fried chips and enjoyed them. I cooked them from frozen, in the oven but one thing I noticed was they stayed "pink" so I think I overcooked them. I think they'd work better under the grill, fried or on a barbecue. They were pretty tasty, nicely seasoned and overall, I'd buy them again.

I'm not a veggie, I'm just trying to cut down my meat intake.

They’re best, bbq’d or air fried.
To me anyway. Wetherspoon’s sell these and obviously just deep fry them. I love them.
I air fry mine for around 14 to 16 mins from frozen and they are identical or better than normal burgers ( in my view).

The packaging has changed, so look out for something like this instead.

Based on the Sainsbury's/Nectar digital team track record, the new image should appear on the website/app 4 or 5 years from now.

Sainsbury's do very few offers in their Northern Ireland stores and blatantly mislead on some Nectar prices which they don't offer here.

Their mince and meat balls unsurprisingly taste identical to the burgers as they're the same thing in a different shape but worth knowing if you want something to put in a pasta sauce or make a chilli etc

IIRC their meatballs are used by Subway

My view is that they are, by far the best veggie burgers I have ever tried and I’m a meat eater.
In fact I choose these over a meat burger.

Given that ingredients have to be listed by order of weight, that sounds like an awful lot of water as the main ingredient.........

Can someone explain to me how plant based burgers cost considerably more than beef burgers? I can only assume it's good old price gauging
    liw's avatar

Because the ingredients are more expensive. Simple as that. These meat free companies arent making any money and struggling

Agreed, went to a nice cafe in Cornwall in 2020 and they had these. Thought they were fantastic . Best burger I've eaten .Went back the following year and theyd swapped them for mushy veg burgers. I was gutted!

Almost made a complaint! 😄 (edited)

We was lucky enough to find these reduced to 20p at our local Sainsbury’s due to them going out of date. We had them on brioche buns last night and we thought they was fantastic

Like these ones. Same as the McPlant product I’ve read.

How does these compare to Linda McCartney or No Bull burgers?

I used to buy the No Bull burgers before I tried these, and I've never gone back to them! The No Bull burgers are good but these are even better - both quite similar in texture but I've found the Beyond Meat ones are less chewy and have a better flavour.

    We all have our opinions.
Unless you pick something fresh from a tree etc, like an apple and eat it,it’s going to be processed.
Tea, coffee, cheese, bread, baked beans, butter and so on.
It’s worth trying them before you write them off. They are really good.

These are ultra processed that is the difference, plenty of research saying it is the cause of many health problems we are having. Rread a book please people. (edited)

So its usually £4 for 2 burgers?
Still voted hot as seems to be cheaper than usual

Yep, that's why the market is in trouble. Not cheap and accessible enough.

These are actually a decent burger.. I would have them anyday if they were adequately priced.

Havent tried them on a BBQ yet but i reckon they would be awesome sauce too.

Note that it’s only the frozen version which is on sale at £2.50, the defrosted version is still £4.50

Not all fat is the same. It's an umbrella term for a wide range of molecules.

LOL. You really need to look at highly processed fats in foods as your ignorance is astounding!
