Unless they're updated it. The game doesn't run too great on the Steam Deck. You'll get moments where its fine, especially early on. But then others where shadows break or the framerate tanks. Xen in particular was so bad I had to give up. It's a shame really because it's really good otherwise.

There is also a VR mod out for this.

This is a phenomenal game, and dare I say it...it's better than the original HL1

They've remade parts that were boring and long winded on the original and everything looks beautiful to boot. 10/10 game. For £3.74 it's just madness that you can get 20 hours(?) of entertainment for that little

Amazing game, playing it on steam deck atm

I tried it a few months ago and it ran like absolute ass, have they patched it then?

is this now complete? Or is it still missing levels from the original?
    OB1's avatar
Complete I'm pretty sure. It was the Xen part they spent longer working on. I think they've kept the on the rails part shortened, for better gameplay. (edited)

Quality is incredibly high. This is how you likely remembered Half Life in your memories, dark and dangerous. The 1998 original looks and feels very cartoonish in comparison.

Is there anything in the works for HL2?

Playing a bit of HL2 on Steamdeck recently made me realise how good the game is even after such a long time. It's a crime we didn't get HL3.

Blue shift was my fav expansion, loved it

Blue shift was great, I agree.

Shocking confession, never played Half-life, only Half-life 2 and the expansions

If you ever do, you need to start with this(Black Mesa), not the original. The original has seriously terrible controls and it just feels really bad by any kind of remotely modern standards.

Nice, been waiting for a price drop since I missed the last one!

What price was it last deal?

The best game with the best storyline. Suggest you play all of it. I even thinking to get vr for my pc to play HL alyx (edited)

Zen section while cool, is far too long. Also the performance on deck declines greatly in the zen episode. I think at one point I was down to below 10fps

This. I know they wanted to flesh Xen out and make it more of a thing, but it starts to drag long before the end.

    It's actually down from 14.99

Does somebody have problem pay over paypal on ios in steam app ? Page not get loaded
    BaronVonRuthless's avatar
I had all sorts of trouble in the Android app'; PayPal pop-up loads but (silently) fails to verify email and never gets to password entry. Ended up falling back to credit card.

    Got it

Played HL2 and loved it. Played some of HL when I was younger, got to the part with the freaking fish thing and hated it... Noped out after getting to the next body of water. I should definitely play it but damn I don't want to go near that thing again!

Wish I had a PC to play this on

Perfect reason to buy a steam deck 😁
  19. nicktwin002's avatar
Bought it to play on the steam deck and it crashed 4 times in the space of 20 minutes, I got a refund.

For those that haven't played it, this will be teh best £4 you spend in a long time!

    Superb game.

I played this a few years ago when it was free and before they did Xen. Decide to buy it so I can try again in VR

support on ? i have an nvidia shield and controller, have not tried it yet
  24. Wheaty11's avatar
Does this work well on steam deck or is it loads of tinkering?
  25. sysak's avatar
Played for the first time 2 years ago, was too young when the original HL came out. Loved the remake to bits. 👌

I think this one game would actually make me buy a steam deck. Such fond memories of the orange box on 360.

Next, they should do something with Blue Shift and Opposing Force. If they combined the two into one concurrent experience, that'd be great.
    KORNdoggy's avatar
There's a very high quality Blue Shift mod for Black Mesa being made. They've already done the first 4 chapters.
