Ive said it before and I’ll say it again: avoid these

    spinorama.org/spe…tml

Better options: if just connecting to PC, Kali LP6 second wave (dont need external amplifier either), otherwise Wharfedale 12.1, Elac 6.2, Monitor Audio Silver

These speakers all have data on the site linked above

Any thoughts on q acoustics speakers?

Was thinking about getting a 5.1 set, either the 3050i it 7000i.

Hot but 25 years on have speakers really improved in any way at all? Take it back further 1970s ultra high end can be bought for next to nothing 2nd hand. Expect they perform materially as well as modern high end especially with vinyl. Not knocking this deal or saying it's in any way anything high end - 607 S2s be very fine for me but am happy what I have. (edited)

One thing to consider though is those 25+ year old speakers may just not perform as well now as they did when they were new. No real way to compare what they were like fresh out of the box vs new speakers... Never mind the fact our ears are probably degrading at least as fast as the speakers are.

If you are happy with what you have the best advice is probably don't go comparing them against anything else because if you do at some point you won't be happy with what you have anymore.

In dim lighting if they were close together it would look like there was an owl staring at you!

Just don't look at them and instead look at the movie.

I had chance of some 80's high end kit. The speakers were shot - perished and fallen to pieces.

What does the oak look like on these in the flesh? Trying to decide between that and plain white.

My advice, having had previous models from B&W with an “wood” finish… go for the white.

I’d have a good read up about these before ordering. The way audiophiles rank speakers these days, they don’t perform well.

I’ve read that they have a house sound (ie tuned from the factory to sound distinctive) rather than being balanced. So might lead to listening fatigue.
Fine if you like the sound out of the box!

There's are reason these are on a deal, they are one of B&Was worst speakers ever.

I returned and got 7 series I stead. Yup, more money but sublime.

Personally love B&W speakers but these don't seem to live up to their high reputation.
685s have served me well for years. S2 was apparently good as well.
With this sort of budget 2nd hand market offers a lot of opportunities.
