My local Sainsbury has one open box on the shelf. No idea how many are left in there, but at least 30.

Well if there's one way to get cheap publicity these days it's by putting Freddos back to 10p again. Let's make it like the baked bean wars of the 90's. Come on Tesco, take the hit. Make them less. 5p maybe?
    Q5ON's avatar
Kwik Save was the OG they took on all the supermarkets in one go, Sainsbury's probably bought 3 ship loads of Freddo's to get the them for around 4-5p each
  9. gummby's avatar
Freddos still best value but how much stock will they really have?
  10. arkleseizure's avatar
Is this available in the smaller local outlets?
    gummby's avatar
Pends on location. Some locations never stocked them anyway. Petrol garages could have them. Larger out of town supermarkets may have them.
  11. gummby's avatar
Hold on is that less than. 50p per 100gr? Stores open at 7 right.

10p gimmick to get you all in store.

    Have these shrunk from 19.5p

does the Mrs like chocolate. 🤭 (edited)
    Rmcstar's avatar
    180g per £1, 50p gets you 90g - bargain!

Didn't work at my sainsbury's local. Staff had no clue

I'd be less keen to go Sainsburys seeing how they treat their staff:

Considering the facts, it's clear the individual committed theft and dishonesty by selecting the option indicating zero bags used on the self-service checkout. This matter has been adjudicated before a judge who found the individual guilty according to the law. Therefore, it would be inappropriate to characterise this action as mistreatment of staff, as it's imperative that we adhere to and respect the legal framework in place.

I'd be buying a box at that price.

As kids, my mate once asked the shopkeeper "how much is this 10p Freddo?" That was about 20 years ago and we still don't let him forget.
    Mr_Ekho's avatar
Always use to laugh when people in the past from different countries asked how much something was in the pound shop.....well certainly not laughing anymore 🥲
  21. DonVali's avatar
10p back in 2004. I will never forget the first time I bought these in year 7.

My working theory is that I actually eat less chocolate because of Freddo's.

    Hear me out!

Basically, one Freddo is just enough of a chocolate hit after a savoury meal. I can stop after one because in my mind I struggle to justify opening another. However If I crack open a dairy milk it's all going to go.

    It's practically health food
    gummby's avatar
I open a 180gr bar and only I only eat 6 cubes a day. Stuck to it for months now. 3 in morning and 3 just after 12.
  24. emgala86's avatar
Yay! Freddos at the original price, there was nothing better when I was a kid than walking to the corner shop, your 10p burning a hole in your pocket and eating it before you'd even got to the end of the street. Happy days!
    xenole's avatar
I used to have 10p in the 80s and get 20 1/2p sweets......

Or I did away with a couple, buy a house with the change
  25. DuggyDarko's avatar
    "I remember when they were 5p" 👵🏻
    Cheeky_Chap's avatar
I remember when they were called "Frederick" not this overly familiar " Freddo" nonsense! (edited)
  26. xenole's avatar
Tesco did them for 10p a little bit before before Covid.
Bought a box then, although both boxes on the shelf were open, so had to count out 60 for a full box worth. (edited)
    newsgroupmonkey's avatar
Our local B&M were selling red Bounties at 20p each or 2 boxes of 24 for a fiver as they were short dated during Covid.

I may have bought 10 boxes and they lasted through every lockdown

Can't believe we hit an era where this is a deal now a day's haha RIP the 10p freddo (edited)
  28. gummby's avatar
Would 30 Freddos be enough to fill a popcorn bucket at cinema or would you need more? Asking for a friend.
