Excellent price, although obviously still overpriced, much cheaper than fuel prices in my area. £1.87 for diesel!

As comparison....Calcot sainsburys is currently 159p unleaded and 176p diesel...so this is a great price for the area.

I went there this morning at about 9:10 - was very quiet at that time, about 5 cars max at a time when I was filling up. There are a lot of bays which is good. I think they will be able to cope hopefully.

I imagine it will be very busy at normal store opening time, but only time will tell I guess. I usually go shopping at lunch or after work, so I guess I will find out how much busier it is there.

I hate the petrol station at Costco Gateshead. Everyone queueing up for the the petrol station clogs the way in to the main car park - total PITA.

Our local 2x shell garages have gone from 174.9p for diesel to 186.9p in the space of 1 week.

Took it 4 weeks to come down from the High to the lowest and I know. I updated petrol prices app as I walked by. Amazing profiting I wish the government got on top of. You can have free market economics but when they rip off. I wish they'd slam down hard.

    1) Costco fuel has beneficial additives in to keep engine clean. 2) Also prices generally going up because OPEC have bowed down to Russia to cut daily oil production, causing a shortage 3) at Costco prices o can use their premium petrol (E5) for cheaper than E10 at most other places.

Seems to be going up again around my way. Two petrol station have put diesel up to 199.9, these are normal garages. On the motorway today and Toddington on the M1 back up to 207.9

That depends on the traffic chaos! Derby Costco was a no go as the traffic was backed up for miles until they changed the road layout at Costco (Must have cost the other businesses on the reatil park next door loads of money as people went elsewhere)

Don't Costco sell Regular diesel, or is it all Premium?
    mail44's avatar
    mail44
They only sell one type of diesel, they call it premium but I suspect it's the same as everyone else's.

Time will tell if fuel economy improves (although I have found my fuel consumption has been markedly better this year than previous 2 with the same car using Morrisons diesel). (edited)

I’m really tempted to get costco membership now.

BTW, petrol and diesel are expensive and will continue to go up in price. Crude oil is traded using US$, and at the moment the pound exchange rate is quite bad. And it will get worse. Yesterday, our local petrol station (Henley-on-Thames) were selling diesel for £1.998"

For petrol, talking about 13p cheaper a litre near me. 5-6 from empty and you break even.

Round my way, the cost of fuel has just gone up. It's now about £1.96 for a litre of diesel at the most expensive (BP) filling station and £1.80 at the cheapest.

Get in there quick. I've been monitoring wholesale prices for a while now and the last 3 weeks has seen a steady rise of around 14p per litre for both petrol and diesel.

Got there at around 9:45 last Saturday morning and was surprised to be able to get straight to a pump.

Pros: I like how they have a middle lane between the pumps so you can drive past the car in front of you if there's a spare pump in front of that car.

Cons: The entrance is in a ridiculous position. By the time I left the store mid morning there was already a queue that was blocking the entrance to the store. It was obvious that was going to happen. Maybe the far side of the car park to the left of the tyre bay might've have been a better position for it.

When I entered the store, there was a queue from the customer services desk all the way out of the store with people applying for membership!
