Cheaper than the outlet for refurbished use code INSPIRON110 for this price.

Just trying to highlight this is now cheaper price for people in same position as me who don't need a super gaming laptop but still want to play the odd game. This is my biting point.

Also interest free with PayPal over 12 months.

You might want to use the money saved from the voucher to buy an M2 NVME SSD as this is the weak point on this laptop.

You have until the 25th to see if any other cheaper/better options may come up.

What are you expecting for 500 quid!? Besides, 8th gen core i5 & i7 HQ's haven't been released for laptops yet so this is as good as you're going to get regarding i5's, at the moment.

Sorry may have been my fault but it looks like someone has fixed it, thank you to who ever that was. And I know what you mean it is a bit of maze.

What’s people’s thoughts on the spec, we need a new home laptop - been managing to avoid with work laptops, but with kids starting to need for home works we need a new home one. I’d love a new Mac but budget won’t stretch.

It's a 4 core processor, its a decent Graphics card, the hard drive is a bit of a let down. It still blows away the laptops my work buys which cost more than this. If all you need is word-processor and web browsing for children's homework it may be a bit overpowered.

It's still working just tried.
I was gonna bite but a little research tells me it doesn't get great reviews

Thanks, I want it more for than just that.....music, photos, videos, the usual home stuff. Just avoided buying a new Mac for a while !
This or the 1060 7700hq 16gb SSD version for £900? It's nearly twice as expensive. Worth it for the upgrades? I'd be playing FM mainly. Which is heavily CPU based.
considering returning my asus rog GL553VD from amazon warehouse deal for this. Any thoughts?

Same specs CPU GPU, Dell has better battery life and thunderbolt port, seem Asus has better display (even with the ips on the dell), better eyboard . may buy this and compare..
I don't think this has a thunderbolt port? I would still go for this though, £499 is a very good price for this laptop.

No problem with all that, just figure in the weight and how you would use it as this is 2.65kg, if your used to Macs or ultrabooks this will seem big.

For me its fine.

This has a TN panel. I would prefer the new Dell but remember the screen is thin is poor. Will be using mine with a decent monitor so not really an issue for me.

It used to be TN, now 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display. Bonus for you! its not as good as the asus monitor but I'm gonna order and compare. Thunderbolt is a big bonus

If you want a significantly better screen get this one, and buy an SSD. The one you ordered has the TN panel dell got slated for, so changed the specs to having IPS as standard

Ohhh wow! Amazing deal then! Flogging my high end PC for this so good! The one thing I couldn't work out was what connections for monitors it had. Fairly sure it was just the single HDMI 2.0 out?

1 x HDMI 2.0
3 x SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A including one with PowerShare
1 x Thunderbolt™ 3 Port (USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C™ with support for 40 Gbps Thunderbolt and DisplayPort)

maybe you can run 3 monitors off it! 1x hdmi 2x thunderbolt :-)

Ahhh nice, didn't spot the thunderbolt at all. I have a Dell S2716DG and 2 U2414H monitors so maybe I can still use all 3

The IPS screen is only marginally better than the TN, according to reviews.

I saw this review

granted it doesn't seem to be a great ips panel but much better viewing angles and contrast ratio should mean its much better than the TN panel

I got it from this review on notebookcheck. Same panel, slightly different results (as you'd expect as no two panels perform the same) especially across models.

Ok, so it's probably better than a "marginal" increase in quality - relatively speaking, anyway. It's still a terrible screen though.

Having said that, it's worth shelling out 500 notes on it.

I get the feeling my Asus ROG Strix GL553VD 1080 ips screen may blow the dell away . ill have to run a few tests before deciding which to return. I know from experience lighbleed can be fixed.

Fair price that - decent processor too. Dedicated GPU's are always going to push the price up a fair bit though.
I bought this laptop less than 2 weeks ago certified refurbished for £575 and I thought that was a good deal I may see if I can return it and buy a brand new one given the £75 saving.

On the subject of screen it's not the best but I think for this spec / price point it can be forgiven.

One thing I would say is the hard drive is pretty terrible, I would add a M.2 NVMe SSD as soon as possible...
