Saw this deal, thought it would be worth sharing. Seems an excellent deal, you get a 4k OLED panel with 100% DCI-P3, a 12 core 28W (up to 60W) i7-1260P, a 25W + 5W MX550 (dynamic boost that can play all competitive shooters at FHD, valve titles easily at FHD Max settings), 16GB ram in dual channel and 1TB SSD storage. Can't find anything that really comes close to this. I was interested myself in getting the lenovo yoga pro 9i 16 which for me as a student is nearly double the price of this, even if you get a mini led display and 4050. Not worth twice the money. Hence why i consider this a great option.

So, I don’t know if anyone else here bought and received this laptop yet, but I have found that the fans seem to be producing a very odd noise when the laptop is raised or put in tent mode to improve air flow and lower temperatures. Unfortunately returning as it’s genuinely a nuisance, the fan isn’t even that loud but perhaps there’s a design flaw in the venting design that’s causing this? I’ve reordered to give it a second shot and if the ‘problem’ is present on the second unit then I’ll have to conclude it’s design related. Some people won’t care obviously because not everyone raises their laptop or puts its into tent mode. It’s a practical thing to do if you’re playing older casual titles like I do. They run beautifully on this laptop, but that fan noise is beyond strange, and an “ear sore”.

Oh, and the left hinge is at an angle, which isn’t particularly confidence inspiring. As for why I’ve given it a second shot. Well, I mainly use a dell g15 5515 AMD and that laptop is spectacular for me, it’s incredibly quiet and no strange fan noise. I’ve had an Alienware m15 r7 with a ryzen 9 6900 hx, again no issues other than the fans getting really loud when doing nothing, which is why I ended up returning it. I have legitimate reason to believe this might be a one off, but if not then I guess I’ll be personally avoiding the laptop, because just watching YouTube can be irritating with the fans at medium RPM.

Seems decent at around 10hrs browsing. Good for a Dell with that kind of display and Intel cpu. Quite loud and heavy, though. notebookcheck.net/Del…tml

Thanks OP, I bought this laptop less than 30 days ago at approx £840, so I should be able to get the price difference refunded under Dell's dell.com/en-…tee.
I ordered this active pen with it dell.com/en-…pcs and I'm really happy with the performance and build of it. It's perfect for general browsing, productivity and light graphics (photoshop / illustrator) work.

Hiya! Mind asking but does your unit produce an odd wooshing sound when the fans speed up? I noticed it the moment I raised the laptop or put it into tent mode to cope better with air flow and considerably lower temperatures. It’s odd, it’s not your typical fan noise, as I own a dell g15 which doesn’t have any such problem, raised or not. I reordered another of the same laptop, as I do like it quite a lot. That display is genuinely amazing, and the keyboard is great.

Yes, I noticed this too. Perhaps it was the code that wasn't approved of by HUKD?

Guys what do you think, this Dell or ASUS Zenbook S13?

I guess will be this DELL for newer processor and dedicated video.

For those wondering about game performance if that’s your interest, then simply searching mx550 gaming on YouTube would return a 21 game benchmark test. Funnily enough this is the exact laptop being used for the tests. AAA titles probably hit and miss unless you don’t mind 720p. Performance is about on par with Radeon 680m which is a 50W iGPU.

Reading bad things about the trackpad on this model... Apparently the battery produces static which interferes with the trackpad, many users are resorting to DIY fixes such as aluminium tape and soldering grounding wires

Is it total order? You can buy the stylus?

you need to use code INSP250 to get the £250 off and select the Nvidia graphics option.
  10. DealHugger's avatar
    Nice, the code works.

I don't particularly like having a dedicated gpu and the 4k display on this kind of ultrabooks, but the price is good.
    volc's avatar
    Why?

4K display you need for larger screens. Smaller screens can get away

Shame about the 2GB of vram on the MX550. This will hold it back on newer games.

If you want a RTX4050 at less than this price you will have to go for something gaming like this:

Ordered. Noticed that when you select the graphics card, the only colour you can have is green.
