Mixed bag of trade in experiences described here in the previous Pixel trade in deal.

    hotukdeals.com/dea…864

I went for it and it worked out for me, but plenty others not so lucky. I'm not completely sure it is worth the stress.

Just a reminder, Google can price match their own store and refund the price difference. It needs to be within the return period, Go on chat, they'd refund straightaway. ( I just did)

Damn it, I just paid £599 for a Pixel 7 last week. Chances of their support refunding me the difference on a scale of 1-10?

Hey mate, the actual reduction on the phones is here until the 28th,but the trade in prices I've been informed are changing from midnight, so the deal will no longer be technically valid unfortunately

I urge anyone that was on the fence, to make their mind up before midnight, otherwise you may lose your chance

Have had the Pixel 7 for around a month. Got it for £264 after trading in my S20 FE 5G and also got £100 Google Credit. Too good a deal to turn down. Decent phone. Performance is great. Camera is excellent. Let down by a few annoying bugs and the terrible charging speeds. Bought the Pixel 6 and 7 simultaneously and both are excellent phones. They were my first Pixel phones and the experience has been positive. Will sell my 7 as I've pre ordered the superior S23+. Was always the plan for me. (edited)

What happens if they decide the trade is not working or there is an issue can I return the phone to Google?
    Robdataff's avatar
    Robdataff
Distance selling regs let you return anything... You are allowed to handle it "as if you were handling it in a shop".

So really, you can't be using it for 2 weeks then returning it, but you can open it, and see if it fits your hand.

Google store offers a 15 day free return window.

Be quick at sending in your trade in, just to be safe.

Pixel 7 pro or s22 ultra?
    Wheresmylaptop's avatar
    Wheresmylaptop
Love my ultra. Depends what you want it for. 10x optical zoom is great and I use it quite a bit while my kids are nuttering about on the beach. I use the s-pen loads in meetings, taking notes. I love the screen.

However, ultra isn't great in low light. It's okay, but not as good as the 7 Pro.

Is the google 7 much better than this phone?

    Alexander.MarinovskyJr.
The pixel 7 for 350 is a great deal. The s9 is ancient at this point with no support and all the hardware outdated now. Of course you can squeeze a bit more out of it , just like people walking around with iphone 6s. It really depends on your needs..

I'd say it's worth buying a cheap ebay iPhone 7 or similar, and using that for trade in. You definitely should be able to get the equivalent of another £80+ discount after the purchase cost.

Where is the tradein bit? From what I can see the extra 100 is only against samsung devices, ie the s23, plus, or £150 on the ultra.

Incredibly tempted but there’s been various reports of the Pixel 7 camera glass spontaneously shattering, possibly due to temperature changes. Trade in prices make me wonder whether it’s worth it to take the risk but have found Google support to be awful… hard decisions

I had the pixel 7 in a recent deal fully cased and no marks and my camera lense smashed.  Waiting on replacement part had to order from china.
really love the phone super smooth and was a great camera just ultimately disappointed the lense smashed so easily

would def put me off buying a Google phone again.

Good deal. However their trade in system is shambles. I traded in an iPhone 12 Pro max worth over 600£ and they claimed they received a pixel 5 instead. Never saw the iPhone again! Wouldn't trust them again

    Cracking Deal.
I think you can also get 5% off on the Google 6a through Student Beans
    Robdataff's avatar

    And totum.

    Total is
    £279.05

Minus whatever trade in you choose.

Im not sure if the 10% store credit also stacks, but that's a bit useless... It comes 30 days after dispatch, so you can't even get a case or charger for your new device. Well, you can, as long as you don't mind waiting 30 plus days for it.

Is the 7 an upgrade on a P30 Pro? Trying to justify getting one but still more than happy with the P30 pro. Cheers.
    Mooky's avatar
    Mooky
I did this exact upgrade. The screen is noticeably smaller on the Pixel 7 and I'm still getting use to using the smaller screen. I compared youtube videos on both and the P30 pro video appears slightly sharper with more detail side by side. The Pixel 7 also gets warm to the touch on the back when I play videos after a few minutes whereas the P30 pro doesn't.

The camera on the Pixel 7 takes slightly sharper pictures especially in low light but if you're already happy with the pics from the the P30 pro then it's not worth the upgrade.

I'd say, if you're already happy with the P30 pro then it's hard to justify the cost of the pixel 7 upgrade. Have a play around with one in a mobile phone store. I think if I had did that before I bought mine I wouldn't have upgraded.

In case it's helpful to anyone, I traded in my S21 (base) which gave a frankly crazy estimate of £310. Mine was in excellent nick but there was an admittedly-hard-to-see weird smudge on the screen glass which worried me about selling on eBay. Just had the email to confirm full value being refunded, which is nice.

Well very surprisingly just received the email to say they're paying me the full £425 for the iphone 12 I sent. It had so many scratches (no cracks) and even dented metal case around the edges. It said £415.83 paid to me and £9.17 as Google account credit. Time to get the Pixel 7 out the box now.
    Jimmyboy's avatar
    Jimmyboy
Just realised why they split the payment. I think the ex vat cost of the Pixel 7 was £415.83 so they couldn't pay me more than I had paid for the phone hence the bit above this is account credit.

Just realised the phone had switched to adaptive charging late in the evening and assumed I was asleep. From 85% onwards it said it would be 100% by 7.45am. Turned that off and now charging fast again

If trading in a pristine Pixel 4a (4G) the John Lewis and Amazon deals are better.
Google will give you £120 trade in.
John Lewis will give you £175 (£125 Trade in Bonus + £50 for phone).
Amazon will give you £179.46 (£125 Trade in Bonus + £54.46 for phone).
Also noticed Amazon have dropped the initial price of the 128Gb Pixel 7 phone to £498.42 (Obsidian) or £496.43 (Lemongrass) compared to £499 at Google/John Lewis.
Amazon is the cheapest option, only issue is that you have to send off your old phone first to get the discount - with Google & John Lewis you send in the old phone after you've received the new one.

After reading some posts and reviews about the trade in company, the pixel 7 sits on my cupboard unopened. Once they approve the trade in price on my excellent condition iPhone 7 then I’ll open it.

They got it yesterday and I have until the 25th to return. It’s a great deal if they honour the trade in, no deal
If they try to cheat out of it.
