Helly Henson, were originally developed as outdoor work wear for professionals in the fishing industry, then later adopted by oil rig workers and other similar types of cold and wet outdoor work.

They then developed a following among the urban youth in the late 1990s, particularly in North England and with the hip hop culture in the US. The brand then developed a mass appeal and is now sold in sports and specialized clothing shops.

The company has been bought and sold numerous times over the years. It's currently owned by a Canadian tyre company of all things! Who bought it from the ever growing Canadian teachers pension fund (who seem to own half the world)!

Their clothing is expensive and was generally highly regarded. However I couldn't tell you if the quality is still as good as it used to be. Or if it's been made cheaper by the various previous owners (investment groups and hedge funds). Trying to cheapen it and trade on the name and history. Just to make more money!
