While it is an attractive price. As a personal preference for active hiking I would add a bit more money and go for standard gore-tex. 3 layer and better breathability. I don't know if things have changed, but previously paclite has lacked in that area for me.

Indeed, I have the Lhotse 3 layer (bought after a Berghaus let me down in the Lakes) Gore-Tex Pro and it never lets me down. Invest a bit in a good coat like a quality mattress, you won't regret it.

This brand has very strange sizing. I usually get Large in Berghaus which always fits perfectly. Large in this is far too tight. Extra large is also tight round the neck and shoulders, but too big lower down. If you're a slight build with a large belly, then these are for you, but I would avoid if you're average build like me. By design, it's so you access pockets. But for us pear shapes, zipping up the jacket, and then unzipping up with the 2nd zip gives some more freedom of movement

Which imbecile decided this was medieval blue when it's clearly renaissance blue!

Are you sure it's not Royal Blue?

2.5L is more than suitable for winter walking in the UK - if you layer up right.

Everything is a compromise with jackets one way or another be that price, weight, breathability..

Best jacket I've ever had is a high quality poncho - which in gore tex terms cost buttons.

That's very interesting. Been thinking on 'upgrading' expensive tech clothing to a very practical poncho. Waterproofing solved because it's so big, breathability solved because it's so open. Doubles up as picnic blanket, or even a tarp.
