Don't you need the hub to use the hive?

To use it with your mobile yes. Otherwise you can still program the heating module to do its own thing. Kinda pointless but some people don't have any sort of programmable thermostat

Correct. But if you want the app and add other products to it like light bulbs and power sockets etc then you do. Defo worrh investing in the hub also

You do, but British gas rewards were giving them away last year.

I only ordered last week, thought I was getting a great deal at £99!

Yes you do.
doesnt work with £40 referral - takes it to £59.99
Yeah it's without the hub
Price now £149.25?
Bowler_man18/11/2019 09:06

Depends what you select

Ah... it's the price without installation. I wonder if people who've got the British Gas Rewards voucher (1/2 price Hive without hub) will get it installed for £75?

Oh well.. it gets installed this week and I don't want to drop the slot

Is this the equivalent of an extra “Multizone” add-on? I’ve got a hive receiver, thermostat and hub set up in one zone, so would this receiver and thermostat allow me to upgrade my second zone?

I’d like to know the answer to this also, I suspect it will, but then again I’m not a central heating engineer

I think there's more to it than that. Whilst this may be able to connect as an additional thermostat and so be used to help monitor and control heating, say, upstairs as well as downstairs, the heating will either be all on or all off in your house, no? It can't only switch on heating upstairs, for example, unless you've got the ability via radiator valves or something else to do that.
Can I buy this and just swap out my old hive thermostat (the white one) for this new one

I have two zones, so yes the boiler is either on or off, but there are electronically controlled valves to divert hot water to the different zones.

Are you sure? I've only ever set up Hive via app with having the hub and I know, once set up, these can talk directly to each other. So there is a way to get them linked and operating as a fairly dumb set up with the thermostat handling the timers without the hub/app?

Who reads the manual, clearly not me

Well you learn something everyday!

I guess this helps with the policy of not reassigning a hub to a new home owner i.e. the heating etc can still be controlled locally. Unless they have changed that policy recently.

Sign up to British gas rewards, they will send you a voucher code to buy this with discount.
Is this easy to install
worth waiting for Black Friday? I bought hive in an amazon sale I think in Q2 and it was 99 quid with him and with British Gas install.
I need to replace a programmable thermostat on our central heating system. Does this allow days of the week to be programmed etc without the hub? Is it also be fairly easy to retro-setup if I bought a hub at a later date?
Expired? £134 no installation, £186 with

What’s the voucher code for this?

You have to be a BG rewards customer they will give you a code.
Wanted a smart thermostat but don't have much cash to splash around so took a punt on this from Amazon. Cost £35 knicker. I had a electrician install but apparently easy if you have a rudimentary knowledge of electrics. Use with the Tuya Smartlife app and Alexa. Works a treat

Amazon code for dot already received, super fast
I'm looking to get one of these or a nest. However I'm a private tenant. I've got permission to get one of these installed. However, if I were to move. Is it easy to remove and put old system back in place with the boiler and take with me?

In the past they've given away the hub and lights for free. It's a shame there's no email alert to tell you about new deals

Indeed, I found out from the engineer who came in to look at my Boiler.
