Have similar tapo bulbs. Hooked up to my phone. Can dim them or change colour. Only thing missing is there's no disco mode which would have been good.

I thought there was? Pretty sure I have this model and there are some aweful flashing modes in the app that I use to get the kids off to bed.

Do these work through an app or do I need to use Alexa or Google?

I want to use them when I go away, so as long as I have internet I can contro them remotely via the app or do I need to use Alexa/Google? (edited)

I got the bulb delivered, it does indeed work with just the app, just in case this might help anyone else.
I haven't had to connect it via Google or Alexa.
Very easy to set up and use.
